Iam from Assam. I recently bought a South Indian Silk Dhoti from Saravana Stores, Chennai. I didn't knew how to wear this. I just liked the dress code of South Indian people so I brought one but was completely unaware of the fact that I don't know how to wear it. Then I saw this video and Iam a pro at it now. hi guys, i am a funeral director who is taking care of a really lovely Tamil family - i find all Tamils to be lovely people and have looked after a few Tamil families now. The families usually dress their loved ones - but i have been simply given the clothes this time to dress a gentlman who has passed away. Usually this would of course be a normal part of my work but i have no experience in fitting these Dhoti and whilst i am happy to do it and try my best (this is why i am watching this video) i am very nervous as i want this to be exactly right for the family. Please wish me luck as i want this family to see their loved one looking his best.

You are correct. In Kerala, the hindus and Christians keep the border on the right side; Kerala muslims wear the border on the left. We also use either black or green belt with yellow pockets to keep mundu (dhoti) in place; we keep the thundu on the left shoulder and mundu on the right.
