Good video. Just bought Sidi BLACK shoes x 2. Have Shimano black socks already. Bought Sidi and Assos white socks to match perfectly :) 48 years old, former national champion. Confused but happy I think. When I stated out in 1986, it was black shoes and dare your wear anything else other than white ankle socks :) Thanks for the good tips. Will just go with the flow and keep those in mind and look cool as hell :) ;)

Matej Mohoric is a black shoe staple. The guy descends with black Air Force energy too, so obviously it works.

Finally a blog of substance ;-) actually this is an important topic as so many get black shoes wrong. For me its black rapha socks and plain black knicks all the way. Such a cool look, never white socks it just screams nerd/schoolboy. And plus one for #fashionfriday, make a thing Miller!!

I love this, I gave up on my fashion, temporarily, after gaining a bunch of post surgery weight and am currently rocking the super Fred look until I get my weight back down. However, once I'm lean again, I can't wait to spend stupid money on kit to match my bike and gear.

Hit the nail on the head here Chris, the trouble I have been finding in the past few years is that…. Short knicks!!! No one produces them! Uses to run the Rapha short cut option, and loved it. Need to bring it back

Chris, great video mate, Black shoes used to be all I too would ride because of the practicality piece-At first- but, that was when I was starting off and then I got much more pretentious about my abilities and my look..... I haven't seen a Pro pull-off black shoe, and it looks great yet, but I will be on the lookout. My current go-to is white shoes or mostly white/black shoes. Rapha white '23 pro race lace

Ive started to be a fan of the overly coloured shoe over the past few years. A Rapha white classic lace up is a great go to for day to day but sometimes you want to just go all out and on those days the Red Shimano RP901s make an appearance. Super hard to match to anything but that's the price you pay for "fashion" :)

Yes, a super fun video. I'm a white shoe and white sock fan, but I do have a pair of the blue S-phyre for wet rides; still hunting for the right sock to match the blue shoes though.

Black shoes with light to mouse grey socks are good. I’m talking about RAL 6035, maybe 7047 - no darker. You can have a narrow white or salmon pink stripe on them, as long as it’s not black. You’re welcome.

Chris, at 05:21 I think you are missing a trick there. It’s those hideous black and white Sidi shoes which are spoiling the look, not the bright blue socks. The same socks but with a totally black stealth shoe like you describe would actually work well. These same two colours in fact formed the basis for Team Sky’s kit from a number of years ago you may recall, and it didn’t look half bad as a combination.

Black is the new black. I'm not a baseball fan, but I live in ATL (2k from the braves stadium) so gotta praise the shirt! I only wear black shoes, so this was great. I might have to do the opposite of your advice sometimes because I'm a tall guy, and sometimes breaking up the leg makes me look less like a chicken in bike kit :)

When i started cycling black shoes were the absolute standard compared with standard white socks. As far as i know Angel Arroyo in 1984 tdf was (one of ) the first cyclist to have white cyclingshoes. Later on Andy Hampsten wearing white Lakes in 1987-1988.

Your are making me smile because this is first world problems, but I totally agree about the 2 toned TDF shoes, just hideous! Also black shoes and white socks is a NO! for me. Love the everyday videos.😄

What you thoughts on white shoes with black helmet?

All the group rides I do everybody, and I mean everybody, uses black shoes. Not me anymore. I gave this some thought and I think white shoes add a level of high viz and I have really come to like that. People in the group may think I'm trying to be a Poser but that is not it at all. I don't wear much high viz kit but I feel that pedaling my bike with white shoes and socks helps drivers see me as a person riding a bike.

I try to wear them on my feet. They work pretty good there..

Black shoes for my commute. White shoes for bunch/cafe/race rides.

Definitely a yes for #fashionfriday I need all the help I can get.

I wish that Specialized would make their wide fit S- Works 7 and their new S- Works Torch wide fit cycling shoes available in some fun bright and snazzy colourways.. Just like their normal with versions..

The thing I like about my 3 pairs of black shoes is I havent had to clean them once over the four years I've owned them. I do more ks than most pros to, at least 3 rides a week minimum 15km long, so the colour has been tested and proven. I've also found dried snot or road grime just flakes off after a few weeks. It's basically a self cleaning colour.

@@The1mars1 on a big week yes. If I'm building up for a big event I'll sometimes exceed 45km by a few km. Thankfully I have several pairs of black shoes, otherwise this wouldn't be possible to sustain.

If I don't wear black shoes is for one reason, my long skinny tanned pair of twigs might catch fire.

It’s sad that I prefer white shoes AND also prefer mtb shoes for road biking. At least with black shoes, I have the option of either style shoe. Are there any white mtb shoes out there??

I literally don't give 2 fcks about shoe color and matching socks (bought matte blacks based on common sense). I can however say unequivocally that I laugh my a$$ off at the white shoes / white socks crew....

I was surprised how terrible black shoes with navy socks looked. Got any tips on how to fix smaller scratches on black shoe? (Fizik R4 overcurve)

Get fi’zi:k shoes. They have the most stylish collection, even on partial black color. I like their black Vento Powerstrap Aeroweave. The pitfall is the price, but then, why pay slightly less and look fugly

I wear black DeFeet socks with mine. Spec has dropped the black Ares this year though. Just look at the white Ares on the pro's feet; the fabric parts have all turned a dingy gray.

hey bro, I was just having fu with this. If you can't laugh at yourself and have some lighthearted content on cycling fashion, I think we would be taking ourselves a little too seriously.

I wear black shoes and have been for many years. Have worn white once, but they get dirty. I like them now cause they remind ne of Mike Tyson and his black boots! That's why I wear black exclusively now though. I'm here to whip some ass that's it!
