HOW TO WATER FED POLE - Technique For First Time Cleaning Dirty Windows
In this How To WFP episode, I share some of the techniques and tools, I like to use in first time cleaning windows. You could take some of these tips to use on all types of windows. Such as wood frame, UPVC, etc. In this video I'm working on an aluminum powder coated frame.
The tools I prefer to use for first time cleans, are any WFP brush that has natural boars hair, like those made by tuckerusa.com
I also recommend walnut scrub pads, 0000 wire wool, glass razor scrapers and professional cleaning chemicals. The key to a great result with first time window cleaning, is a really good scrub and an even better rinse. If in doubt rinse and rinse again! Hope you find the video helpful!
Many thanks for watching.

*Awesome content. Love the watering down the frames/edges to reduce contamination and I assume it would help in reducing stains. I window tinted for years and would always wet down the work area walls and floors to suck the dust out of the air. Thanks for sharing.

Really appreciate your comment on my video, and also your input on understanding what it takes to keep contamination to a minimum! It’s more effort, but the results are always great and last a whole lot longer! All the best bro 😎
Great vid and logic. Did you use the ubik neat or diluted?

Appreciate your comment! The majority of the time, I spray ubik neat on to brush and create the suds with pure water. Recommend Viro-Sol for even tougher cleans, but takes more rinsing. Thanks
Awesome video, I’m dealing with an issue right now where water spots remain on certain glass panes. Where can I hop on a call with you to discuss more questions I have in mind?

Spotting on certain panes is going to be hydrophobic glass. You’ll notice when rinsing, the water won’t sheet down, but look like raindrops instead. You either want to increase pressure/flow of system for more water to push dirt down pane. Could also give it time to dry and re-rinse. Or just trad those windows in particular 🫡
What would you reccomended technique be for bigger buildings, ive had a complaint recently on a 5-6 storey building. It is hard to adequately clean dirty windows at that height
@The4x4WindowCleaner
Ай бұрын
That’s a good question, and an issue I’ve had to deal with myself. Not only is it near impossible to see if you’re cleaning well enough at that height, but also getting good enough contact on the glass can be difficult! I clean a 5 storey block regularly. The best setup I’ve found is the Tucker boar hair brush and rinse bar. The boar hair grabs a lot better even at height and the rinse bar allows you to keep the brush on the glass when rinsing down. Also having a higher pressure of water set on your system is essential for getting better results when windows are that high up. Definitely charge more for high work so you can take the extra time they need 🫡 All the best

Manage expectation! If they don’t like the result tell them you know a good abseiling firm or you can hire a mewp. Either way you want more £.
I just recently purchased and received my WFP & DI System. How do you go about cleaning windows that has hard water stains? It seems to me that the bristles on the WFP are too soft to do any kind of scrubbing.

Appreciate your comment. That’s a good question bro, hard water is a tough one for WFP to deal with on its own. What works for me, is to use 0000 steel wool and a cleaning product called ZEP Calcium Lime and Rust Remover. You’ll probably get another brand in US that’ll do just the same thing. Put the product into a spray bottle neat, spray direct onto hard water stains, let it sit for a minute, and scrub with the steel wool. You may have to hit it a couple of times, if it’s real bad. Then finish clean with WFP. Hope this helps!

Normal water-fed cleaning brushes are designed only for cleaning windows, softer bristles are better for this kind of work rather than stiff bristles. Hard Water Stains won’t be removed by a water-fed brush. You will need to use a dedicated HWS remover or similar, on a pad scrubber or better, 0000 grade steel wool, or even some HWSR on a rag will work on small spots.
I’ve just bought my first backpack and pole kit to use with smart water, can you advise what cleaners I need please.

That’s how I got going with wfp 👍 I’d recommend ordering degreasers from a professional cleaning suppliers. In the UK I mostly use UBIK 2000, but any decent degreasing chemical will do. I’ll occasionally use a diluted dish soap. Also CLR remover is a must for hard water stains(charge more for that kind of situation) All the best @sueb8678 🫡

@@The4x4WindowCleaner thank you, what would I need for stubborn dirt and some yellowing on white upvc
@The4x4WindowCleaner

Hi @@sueb8678 yellowing upvc can be uv/sunlight damage that effects that top layer, so difficulty to improve. Id only recommend using Stardrops The Pink Stuff paste or Unger Rub Out remover, these will also work with stubborn dirt. Don’t be tempted to use anything stronger. I had a customer once who put bleach on white frames and it didn’t end well!! I’ve also seen a lot of upvc sanded to remover stains, but wreaks the top finish layer!! Hope this helps 🫡

Hey @@brandonevans174 the data sheet describes it as “alkaline cleaner and degreaser” which is “concentrated”. Sorry it can’t be found in US, but you should find an alternative cleaner/degreaser brand.

If I had spent that long per window I would have gone bankrupt! I only wash using the traditional method with a squeegee, and can wash 450 windows per hour with a pole.

My god mate. If we worked like this with a wfp, we'd be broke as hell. Get a better, more efficient brush & that window is top to bottom clean in 25 seconds. I'm baffled by this video. How can you say this is practical?

@The4x4WindowCleaner I charge by the job, not how long it takes mate & what I might do in 1hr, someone less equipped or less experienced might do in 2hrs, but we'd charge the same cos it's still the same job. No disrespect intended at all mate, I just think that's wasting a whole lot of time to get the exact same result I'd get in 1/4 the time.. 🤔
