    11am is a good time to walk back into the US. The times you want to avoid walking back into the US are: Mon-Fridays 4am-7am, a lot of people are trying to get to work in the US. Friday-Sunday & Holidays 6pm-2am, people are usually trying to get home from a vacation or from partying at this time. Driving back into the US have different rush hour times.

    Hi Abel, I would like to ask you a question. If I come from San Diego bringing huge big travelling bags (quite an amount of them) would it be easier if I came in by Greyhound bus? I don't have a car by the way. We still have to go through immigration stuff even if we rode a bus, right? Do I need to bring my bags everywhere when I have to go through immigration or can I just leave them in the bus? And do they check the belongings inside your bags ? Thank you, Abel!

  • @Abel_XL

    @Abel_XL

    A greyhound buss may get you near the boarder but I don't believe they will cross into Mexico. There are bus near the boarder that do offer the service to cross into Mexico, I would recommend that you look into it before you get there. Yes, you will still have to go through immigration if you cross in a bus. Make sure you have a passport, it will really help you when you cross. I hope this info helped. Stay safe.

    @@Abel_XL Thank you so much for the reply Abel! So sorry to ask this question again, do you know if I need to bring my bags everywhere when I have to go through immigration or can I just leave them in the bus? Do they check the insides of all your bags thoroughly , do I need to declare anything whether i take bus or just walking? Its a lot of bags that I have. Do you know if they have a limit to how many bags I can bring in if I'm just walking and no bus? Do you know the name of the bus company? I am so sorry to ask so many questions as if you're an info center (so sorry!!) but my partner and I made a very last minute decision to go there now and I'm just so busy packing now, we checked the details and we only saw Greyhound. Some of the details didnt help.

    1) Check out this video for parking on the US side kzread.info/dash/bejne/n66tm6mBhLGpm6Q.html You can tell the Uber to drop you off San Ysidro border crossing, there are 2 crossing areas now. One is by the old exit and the other is by the mall called Ped West. 2) You can tell the Uber to drop you off at the San Diego border, just make sure it the same one you parked at on the US side. You can tell a Taxi to drop you off at the "La Linia" or "La Frontera" agian, make sure it the same one you park at in the US side. Hope that helps. Stay safe and have fun.

    Thanks for the info I am heading south for the holiday and returning on the the 5th I will be taking pacific Surfline to downtown SD. Then catch the blue trolley to the San Ysidro crossing and returning the same way. The trolley you speak of is the same trolley ? Or are you talking about a trolley that cruises the different parking lots? I totally appreciate the video you made as one thing I had not thought about is the fact I have a 3:58 train to catch in down town SD. How much time do you think I should allow to cross back to the u.s. And trolley it to down town SD?

  • @Abel_XL

    @Abel_XL

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hi Steph. I just checked and yes, the blue line trolley takes you all the way down to San Ysidro. The blue line will drop you off right at the place at the end of this video where all those people where sitting at the benches. At 11:28 in the video in the upper right corner, you can see a sign that says "Blue Line to America Plaza". Many people go to Mexico for the holidays and they all do what you are doing, which is cross back into the US on the following day. Expect a long wait time for crossing back into the US for 2 reasons: 1) Everyone is crossing back, 2) There will be less Border Agent staff members on hand, they will probably call in sick after partying on the 4th. If you only have a standard book passport, you should plan from anywhere from 1 hour to 2.5 hours+ in line, this is just an estimate please don't hold me to it. I dont take the trolley so I wouldn't know how long it would take to get back to Down Town. I hope this helps. Have fun and be safe.

Do disabled individuals get preference in crossing back to from TJ to the US faster? (I have Sentri myself but this time I will have to stay with them on the regular lane to cross.) Hi Ricardo. At the old San Ysidro crossing, there use to be a special lane for disable people but the building is under construction and that lane is not there anymore. I'm not sure if they have dissolved the disable lane or just removed it and allow disable people ahead of the "All Traffic" lane. I haven't been to the new crossing called Ped West, so I don't know if there is a disable lane there. If your mom and Aunt have the Passport Cards, all of you can use the "Ready Lanes", which is faster than the slandered "All Traffic". I hope this info helped. Have a great time in Mexico!

    Does a "Global Entry" pass get you into the faster Sentry (Sentri) line? Also, I read that if you're never going to drive across, only walk, to only get Global Entry instead of Sentri. But I'm skeptical of the claim, because Global Entry (at least in part) works for cars. I don't understand what paying the extra money for Sentri accomplishes. Why get Sentri? BTW, at the present it's possible that I might not cross regularly; maybe even only once every few years. But that may change.

  • @Abel_XL

    @Abel_XL

    4 жыл бұрын

    The "Global Entry" pass or GOES pass allows you to use the Sentry Lane, which is the fastest of all the 3 lanes. If you have the GOES pass, and want to drive, you would have to register your car, other wise you can just walk across. Using the GOES pass also allows you in the fast lane when flying back in to the US from a Foreign country. From what I understand, the GOES pass is cheaper than the SENTRI pass and allows you to more benefits. Are you planning on getting the GOES pass?

Sun 10am-1pm people are trying to cross with suit cases, usually because they just got back from vacation. I gave you approximate time so please don't hold me to it. • @Abel_XL

    @Abel_XL

    6 жыл бұрын

    Nope, there is no line that separates citizens and non-citizens when crossing the way I crossed. There is a building, before getting to the customs officer, for where non-citizens can get a visa/permiso, I'm not sure if its still there, there has been a lot of construction since this video. I would recommend that you and 1 of your friends walk up to the booth at the same time. I would also recommend that you hand your info to the officer first so that your friend can be there just in case something happens. They wont let you wait for your friends in the building. Tell your friends that you will meet with them just outside the building or at the Mac Donald's, just in case you get separated. There are different lanes depending on what kind of passport you have. "All Traffic Lane" can be used by anyone with a Passport Booklet. "Ready Lane" can be used by people with a Passport Card and higher but cannot be used by someone with a Passport Booklet. "Sentri Lane" can be used by people with a Sentri Card or a Goes Pass but cannot be used by Passport Booklet or Card. I hope this was helpful. Let me know how your trip goes.

    San Ysidro border is open 24 hours a day. Not all boarders are open 24/7, the boarder at Tecate closes after 11pm I believe. The board will also close in times of National Security, like during 9/11. It also closed a few weeks ago when the Honduran Caravan tried to rush the boarder.

    Hi Roverto. I don't know if they check for warrants, I do know that they run your name through their system. I would probable lean on the side of not risking it. Take care of that warrant first big guy so that you don't have to worry about things like this.

    Hi Juan, glad to hear that my video helped you out. I know that you would need to have a passport to cross into the US. I'm sure that you will also need a Visa, I'm not sure how you get one and I'm not sure which one you need. As far as I know, it you are just going to buy stuff for yourself, not to resell, you don't need any special permission but I could be wrong. VERY IMPORTANT - When you cross back into Mexico, the Mexican Federal Agents MAY charge you fees for bringing back sell-able goods. If you have a lot of merchandise, they will charge you taxes, make sure you don't have a lot of one thing. If you are looking for LP's, Vinyl, Records, I would recommend a few places to look. I see many Records at thrift stores and swap meets, garage sales, you can find them cheap there but you may not find the specific one you want. If you dont mind paying a little more money, there are many Record shops in San Diego Have fun in San Diego, let me know how it goes.

    The US will not charge you an export tax as that is unconstitutional. They may ask if you are leaving with over $10,000.00 US. There is no US limit that you may bring across assuming it is not the proceeds of a crime. However not declaring it is illegal and it could then be confiscated. You may buy what you please in the US but Mexico may have rules about what you can bring back and may charge you a tax or duty. Check with the US Embassy in Mexico City or US Customs and Immigration website for information on getting a visa. If you are going to bring a car across be sure to have the proper insurance for the US State of California. If you get a limited visa do not exceed the internal border checkpoints in the US as you may violate the terms of your visa.

    If you live in TJ and work/claim residence in SD, what do you say to them? What kind of questions do they ask?

    As long as you are a US citizen, they have to let you into the US. There are many people that cross everyday to go to work. The boarder agents usually ask questions like, "Where are you going?", "What are you bring back from Mexico?", "Whats your name?". As long as your not breaking the law, you shouldn't have an issue.

    Thanks for the info! I'm thinking about doing this, but heard that they keep track of when you leave and come back. My overactive brain went into overdrive! lol. But the more I hear, the more it sounds like a viable option.

    Hi , there I have a question : If , I'm Asian tourist , for example from Japany , who doesn't need visa to enter USA and Mexico (Japany is Visa Waiver Country with USA) came for vacation to Mexico and wants to visit USA by feet or by car or by bus (cross border by land) for couple days.... will USA border guards on passport control will take my fingerprints ?

  • @Abel_XL

    @Abel_XL

    I've never seen anyone get their fingerprints taken. Every now and then I do see people get stopped for some inconstancy in their paperwork or if the Agent believes that they are trying to cross illegally. If this happens, they get taken to Secondary Inspection where the Agents may try to verify who your are which can mean that they would take your fingerprints but I havent ever spoken to anyone who had this happen to them. Let me know how your trip goes.

    Abel Aramburo , Maybe you are right just what I know is basically Mexicans and Canadians don't need to give their fingerprints, especially entering by land or boat. So , neighbors of USA can enter by land or ferry-boats without fingerprints. Don't know about other citizens entering by land or ferry-boats but 101% USA authorities take fingerprints from non-Mexican and non-Canadian citizens on arrival by air ! Anyway , thanks for info. Next time when you will cross border by land ask about Asian or European citizens who don't need visa to USA entering by land will fingerprints be taken from them ? Please.
