    I am 76, walking for 3 years. Went from 218 to 121. Feeling like a young adult. I use a fitbit.

    A year ago i decided to lose weight and try and get in shape,I changed to a healthier diet and I started walking daily,slowly increasing the distance,now I walk around 25000 steps a day and I’ve lost nearly 50 lbs.I’ve started back at the gym after a 20 year break and I’m starting to put some muscle mass back on,I haven’t felt this fit and healthy in decades and it all started with a couple of short walks a day..😊👍

    I walk 5 miles everyday, at a 10% incline. That's around 1000 calories. You don't have to walk it all at once, you can break it up throughout the day. I use a treadmill.

    Yes, it's definitely hard to get it all in on one go. Treadmill makes it much more convenient. Thanks for watching!

    And what speed?

  • @VRIceblast

    @VRIceblast

    2 ай бұрын

    @@sanjam11 Speed really isn't that important, it's distance, and time. Though I usually walk at 2.6mph. If I walk much faster, I get tired faster, and then I don't burn as many calories over all. It's better to walk at a speed your comfortable walking at, and that you can keep doing for a long time. I'm not really in a hurry. I wish I could run 5 miles, and be done in 45 mins, but I'm just not able to do that. My left foot limits how much time I can walk on it, and the pounding of running, just isn't a good idea. I usually find me a really good book series, and listen to it, while I'm walking, makes time go by much faster, and think less about what I'm doing, or I'll surf youtube while walking. Anything that distracts my mind from what I'm doing.

    Any time you have a number associated with something, you know it's not an organic, natural part of human life, and you don't need to worry about it.

    I like most of your suggestions and I do practice some of them. I try to hit close to 5k before I finish work everyday and that makes it easier for me to hit the 10k target when running errands later in the day. Great tips though!

    I like the idea of walking between sets of one’s workout. But this really on seems possible for home workouts. Not really going to be able to walk away from equipment at the gym and not expect someone else to take it. But neat idea though.

    Thanks for watching Eric! Doesn't have to be a full walk, just pacing around during your breaks around the equipment and taking active rests still counts as steps :)

    I have severe osteoarthritis in my knees. I also don't have much cartilage either. And I have rickets. I can't really stand. I have to use a walker in the house. And a wheelchair when I go out. I can't stand alone. Do you have any suggestions for that?

    I walk my house most of the time. Due to weather and light hours decreasing, this works out better for me. I listen to audiobooks or watch you tube videos while I walk. My house is not big but I do have one set of steps. I just walk in loops and then occasionally go up and down the stairs.

    Duh, it’s just a target. Thats like saying doing 10 reps of biceps curls is a myth. It’s just the target. You can adjust the weight and do more or less.
