Hey everyone! enjoy the video and as always if there are any questions feel free to ask. This one took a bit long to come out, I’m editing myself again. Not as good as the pros, but I feel I can add more of my personality to it. I will get better🙂 Few things I missed: 1. Gates: there are four gates. Galton in the West that takes you to Dolomite camp, Anderson in the south that leads to Okaukuejo camp, Von Lindequist in the East that goes to Namutoni camp and King Nehale in the North East that leads to either Onkoshi or Namutoni camp. 2. Cash and credit cards are accepted for all payments at the park. This includes Park fees, accommodation, restaurant, shop and fuel. BUT at times these machines are offline or electricity is off, so it is always a good idea to carry a bit of cash. 3. Wifi is available for free only at Dolomite camp. At the other camps the costs are as follows: 300Mb (N$50), 700mb (N$100) & 2Gb (N$200). Only available around the pool and in the restaurant. 00:00 Intro 00:33 Fly from Cape Town to Windhoek 01:28 Drive from Windhoek to Okaukuejo, Etosha 03:48 Park fees 06:35 the official Etosha map 08:15 NWR game drives 09:22 Camps & Accommodation 10:53 Facilities at the camps 12:43 my favorite waterholes 14:28 Halali camp 15:57 Etosha lookout and things to do 17:28 Namutoni camp 18:50 Onkoshi camp 19:15 Frequently asked questions 20:15 Outro

Great video. I'm planning to rent a jimny 4x4 in Namibia. How do you think it would do on the dunes and in skeleton coast area?
@NickfrNamibia
2 жыл бұрын
It will do well. Dunes, deflate tyres and you are ready to go and have fun . Skeleton coast the roads are actually very good so you wont have any issues. Up to where are you going? Only issue I had was the range, about 350-400km. Not an issue as there are a lot of fuel stations, but you have to fill up in every second town.
New to your videos. Do you have camera recommendations? Lens recommendations? Thank you for documenting your trip.

Hey, was lekkr ja🙂 Rented the Jimny from Namibia2Go in Windhoek, great company to rent from, all the info available on their website. Just note it is not equipped for camping, asked them to add a small fridge me. My thoughts: Space and the fuel tank was a bit small vs consumption so you'll have to stop in every second town. But I did enjoy driving around in a brand new vehicle vs my 21 year old Hilux.
@R_ovrlnd

@@R_ovrlnd haha yes they are. Had the Jimny for 10 days, onboard computer told me the consumption over that period was 9.6km/l. I get between 7-7.5 with the Hilux. Big diff is the Hilux has 150lt capacity😂

Thank you for the useful info! We are looking to alternatives to rent a car (if possible at all). Have you ever tried to move by train? I have seen that there is one running to and from the main "cities" in Namibia. When you sleep in campings do you need your own tent or can you rent one at the camping places? I was also wondering whether we will meet other people a part from the ones working with us, tourists :D?
@NickfrNamibia

The train is possible, but I dont have any info on that. I travel with my truck. Depends from place to place, you'll have to contact each place, but yes it is possible at some places. Yes, you will meet a lot of people👍🙂
Great video Nick! Very, very useful! We are planning to visit Namibia next year, we will drive from South Africa. Our understanding is that we need to have some cash in Namibia as sometimes there is no electricity and in some places (Spitzkoppe, Twyvelfontein, etc) only cash is accepted. We tried to buy Namibian Dollars in Europe, but this is not possible. Can you pay with Rands in Namibia? Or should we try to buy Namibian dollars in South Africa? Thanks a lot. Fernando

Yes you are right always keep some cash in hand. SA rand is a legal tender in Namibia and accepted everywhere just like the namibian dollar. Exchange rate is 1:1
Great video thanks, This may be a silly question but at 1.38 looks like the cars driving past the stop sign at the checkpoint? Do you need to stop at all checkpoints or only if police are there?
