    I recommend:A) to use a flash metal as the roof color and you don't have to paint,B)use screws for deck better work than nails,C)silicone before installing 2by4,.

    I would recommend: A) Use proper formatting when critiquing something you know nothing about. B) The color of the roof flashing is superficial, more concerning is the improper lapping they did from top of 2x4 to sheeting.

    Why would you put flashing over the shingles? I know you put the waterproof membrane below, but it seems like the space between the membrane and the flashing could give you mold growth.

    Please help! We have a skylight in our manufactured home. Back in 2007 we had metal roofing put on and they lifted our skylight 4 inches with 4" boards. The boards were able to be seen from the inside of the bathroom, so to satisfy me the bent a piece of metal to fit around the opening to cover the boards. Every summer, when it gets extremely hot tar melts down into our skylight on top of the metal sheet they covered the boards with. How do I fix this problem?

    Eric I am disappointed to see this type of work. I have watched your videos on the past and they are good, but watching how you used more that one course of shingles per tin shingle that is not right and you know it buddy that you most, no excuse use one tin shingle per course of shingles no exceptions, and on top of that you paint your metals after you install them and you did not protected the shingles from your spry pain those are some of the most expensive shingles on the market. I would not enjoy getting on my roof to look at the Ski light and find spry paint on my expensive roof, don't let your guard down man I am a roofer my self and I like your videos a lot, good luck and keep up the good work

I give it 2 maybe 3 good precip events and the nightmare will begin. Even if this was installed in the southwest , when it rains there , it tends to really pour. But , you know , when you do work like this , just change your phone number - often.

Had them cut up so he could swap the name and logo constantly and had multiple magnets of every number all in the same font. He could literally swap his work trucks identity driving home to home. The good news was they eventually caught up with him for fraud (no license, took money and left multiple times, I think tax evasion was even in there). They got him for 5 years in prison, I think it was 3 year ban on his license, and a fine worth less than he took.

    I would opt fpr my cut to break beyond an overlap, or little shingle flap. Just cause anything that runs down and then around the skylight will now be forced under that one flap on top, sure there's flashing gonna be around it but i still think like that no matter what.

    I'm replacing my curb mounted bubble skylight because it has developed cracks. When I went up to measure I was surprised to find out the skylight is not attached to the curb. It is, literally, sitting on top of the curb with no screws to hold it on. I was able to lift it right off to measure the curb. That seems weird to me because even if the high winds out here haven't lifted it off it still seems like a security issue. Anybody could lift it up and drop right down into my bathroom! The skylight is at least 25 years old, maybe older. I had a new metal roof put on in 2012. I don't know if the skylight was always just sitting up there like that or whether the guy that did my roof didn't bother to reattach after finishing the roof. After searching high and low on line I was finally able to order a new Velux bubble skylight. It hasn't shipped yet but I'm trying to prepare ahead of time for installing it. I have a metal roof and there is metal flashing installed up the sides of the curb. Do I need to put anything between the skylight and the flashing? Was that stuff you were spraying some kind of water proofer or was it just paint? Your video didn't show the actual attaching of the skylight to the curb. I won't know until the skylight gets here whether it has screw holes for attaching to the curb. I'm hoping it does. Thanks for taking time to read my long question! Eva

  • @Garciasroofing

    @Garciasroofing

    if you have a gap between the skylight and the frame where it's mounted , usually the skylight seals any mosquitos or bees penetration when you mount it on the curb. at any hardware store they sell a thing that is called weather seal or tape and you stick it around the frame before mounting the skylight. to secure the skylight you can use 2 inch galvanized nails or metal screws , 2 nails or screws on the longer side and 1 on the short side should keep it in place. usually the skylights are design to divert the wind that's why you went so many years without nails. hope my answers could solve your questions , good luck. Eric.

    The back pan is incorrect, not even close to correct. Spray painting on a roof is risky business. Use flashing for over spray. I guarantee you that the skylight will leak. The top two corners. Just copy the old technique. Should not be flush to curb. Place another back pan and redo correctly. This is not correct and slopy.

    Improper installation: the head flashing was not overlapped correctly with underlayment in shingle manner. The side step flashing was not woven between shingles. If it did not leak as "you claim", you've got VERY lucky. There are other variables that determine leakage when such poor installation is performed such as climate zone, roof's pitch, wind driven rain, etc...

    Creo que la gente de Home depot ya no cobra eso , los menos pagados aca son los lavatrastes, lava carros, fabricas, etc... Cualquier jornalero te cobra mas que una persona que trabaja de techador ( rufero) . Creo que estas mal informado amigo, si quiere emplear personas de las Home depot , le saldra mas caro ,en cambio un aprendiz de techador le saldra mas barato, Los que menos pagan en esta industria son las grandes companias de roofing por si no lo sabia , te matan por un sueldo miserable y encima de eso te matan trabajando las 8 horas del dia . Creo que no conoces bien este pais paisano . informate para que no te enganen buen dia .

    Estas equivocado mi querido roofing solutions las compañías grandes de roof te pagan de acuerdo a lo que sabes, tienen máquinas para todo, ademas aseguranzas, te pagan holidays, sick days y cada quien tiene su función, solo los pequeños contratistas y compañías pequeñas hacen lo que tú mencionas, no creo tu les des aseguranza a tus trabajadores, ni pagues holidays no cosa por el estilo, sabes porque por el tipo de trabajo que realizas como dicen de acuerdo a lo que pagues es el trabajo que te harán, es por eso que muchos rooferos van a trabajar a grandes compañías y los rooferos buenos que hay solo trabajan en las pequeñas por una cosa la falta de papeles para trabajar.!!!

    Let me tell you...till this date ...the skylight hasn't leaked yet...when i did the roof i gave the home owner 10 yrs labor warranty on the shingles installation...short after he decided to open up the skylight...so i went back and installed the new skylight...i don't think it will leak... I skipped many steps on the video to make it short and swift...but it's waterproof my friend. I was done by Eric Garcia...not a fly by night roofer

    This is sloppy work. 1. Curb should have been 2x6. 2. Top and bottom 2x6 should go over rafters. 3. Should have diverters on back pan, and on step flashing at the bottom. 4. missing counter flashing. 5. step flashing done incorrectly. 6. they make colored flashing.....
