I wish they would add like an extra 10 seconds at the end to show the finished product.
"Norm & Charlie framed for the skylight"......Poor forgotten Carly.
Good to see Norm, the master carpenter. How many times did I watch the new yankee workshop completely hungover.
They are 10 ft off the ground and have 20 ft of slack of rope 🤣

Very helpful video. Thank you!
Norm omg I missed seeing this guy, new yankee's workshop, and the original second in command with Bob. Hell yea
Beautiful.

Excellent work Carly and crew!!!
Norm's back...wow...thought this was an old episode they were just uploading.
Those long screws are awesome. Anyone know what they are? Spax?
7:15 Why does the curb overhang by 3/4" ...for drywall? And the interior of the curb will simply be painted? Also at 7:15 looks like they installed hangers for the joist headers which were not shown during the interior video shoot.
Norm Abram has to be the best carpenter in the world!
Good video but I have to issue you with a STOP card and ask you to take a TOFS...there is more slack in your safety line than the height of the roof meaning you will simply go SPLAT (technical term from oil industry)...

No insulation around the skylight frame that extends above the roofline?
@probuilder6828
4 жыл бұрын
Eric R Nope. It isn’t necessary as the dimensional lumber if rubber applied tight, is a good enough insulator to avoid frost or condensation.
Thanks for showing how and sharing that
So curious what the finished skylight looked like from inside.

It,s in a different room .....
I wonder of they have skylight into metal roofs. It's hilarious that I have no issues with asphalt, and rubber roofs. Scared of a metal roof screwing it up.
Good job Tom arrived to make sure the job was done right.
😊
It fascinates me the difference in other countries. It must be a warm location with the thickness of the insulation in that roof which would be around 80mm here. It must be a very high-performance board for that thickness. Also, any kerbs where I'm from need a min of 25mm insulation as there's nothing preventing cold bridging and that 45-degree edge also made from insulation as opposed to that piece of timber to prevent the same thing. And any flat roof lights require a 3-degree pitch.
The safety rope on your workers is greater than the height to the ground. So your workers will already fall to the ground, and the insurance will not work ....
"Bend it over... and nail it"
Water will puddle and settle on that flat roof light. It will look a dirty mess in a few weeks. Needs to have some drop on it.

I love the way you guys keep working to bring the next generation in and super glad that you include women as well. Also, secretely, don't tell anyone, (shhhh), Tommy is my favorite on This Old House in this generation. Hope you have Carly's (sp?) on the show on the regular. It will attract a younger audience and keep things going. Boy, you can sure tell she's been slinging a hammer for quite awhile, back arm at a strange angle she's hitting with confidence. Wish she could have been in on the end. Remember when Tommy WAs the younger generation? If you didn't know about Tom and Tommy, you'd still be able to tell they worked together a lot, they work like a dream team, like one man with four hands, and they hammer exactly the same.
