    Hi Casey. Thanks for the video. Does the transmitter from Röde send signals to the camera in Stereo? I'm looking for a solution where I can stand -lets say 20 metres from the stage and use the bands livemixer and send the audio via the zoom. I tried with another sender/system from the livemixtable and it just sent with a mono to my camera. This looks like a good solution. Or do you have another one? Thanks

    Great video Casey! Quick question - if you compare the audio captured in your camera using the wireless rode vs using the long 3.5mm cable, is there any difference in the syncing of the audio with video? Meaning is there any kind of lag or latency you experience using the wireless go as opposed to the hard wire? I would love to use your same set up, but worried that going through the H6, then through the wireless go, might degrade the audio signal into my camera or introduce slight lag etc. If you could let me know if any of this happened to you, that'd be great. Thanks!

    Hi Daniel. Thank you much, I appreciate it! There is no lag using the Rode Wireless Go versus a cable. That said, if your Rode wireless receiver on the camera is too far away from the transmitter, or maybe you don't have line-of-sight from a far distance, then the Rode Wireless Go signal can degrade. But if you are using the Rode Wireless Go from a relatively short distance, everything should be fine. Thanks for watching my video, feel free to subscribe for more content coming up.

    Excellent video, thank you.. If I were to use a single shotgun mic and connect this to my Rode Wireless Go transmitter directly using an XLR to 3.5mm jack adapter and record audio into my camera (wirelessly), will the sound quality differ substantially? in other words are you transmitting better quality sound wirelessly by transmitting the signal from a zoom recorder? I'm looking for a wireless set-up where I can hook up a shotgun mic to the Wireless Go directly and transmit the sound wirelessly but don't actually want to compromise on the sound quality I record.. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello, thanks for the video. The rode output generates the plug voltage for lavalier microphones. In addition, a similar voltage is available at the Zoom H6 output. I haven't had a chance to test how it will react, but can you give an idea about damaging any of the devices?

    I also use the Rode Wireless Go. I was wondering if I used the transmitter as normal, (lav mic and in my pocket), then if it transmits to the receiver mounted on my camera, line out to an H1n, then line out to the camera for easier syncing in post. Do you know if I would I be recording better audio quality using the H1n, vs the Wireless ROde direct to camera?

    So, in your setup, the sound track recorded o your camera, you have only one, right? It merged the 4 microphone tracks into a single one as soon as it leaves the H6 out jack to feed the Rode Wireless Go? Can you still use the 4 individual tracks saved onto the memory card of the H6 ? Important to me as sometime, you may want to give a boost on one track instead of another as they are not as close as your 4 mics from each other

    I like making KZread content. Recently I've been getting into podcasting. Podcasting can be simply audio either with or without a camera for video filming (example: watch some Joe Rogan podcast videos on KZread). In this video, I'm showing how the same audio from the multiple XLR microphones feeding into the Zoom H6 can be simultaneously fed into the camera wirelessly in real time using the Rode Wireless Go lav system. If you want to forgo using the Rode Wireless Go system for wireless audio, you can also substitute by using a simple long 10 feet 3.5 to 3.5mm wired AUX audio cable going from the Zoom H6 recorder (line out port) to the camera's 3.5mm mic-in port. For this video, I'm using the Zoom H6 recorder, plus 2x Audio Technica AT2005 dynamic microphones, plus 2x Shure SM48 dynamic mics, plus 2x Audio Technica m20x monitoring headphones, plus Rode Wireless Go lav system, plus Canon EOS 90D DSLR camera with Canon 24-105mm f4 L MkII zoom lens, plus the Dinkum Systems Action Pod Pro gooseneck clamp to hold the Zoom H6, plus a generic Arca-Swiss tripod adapter with 1/4 inch thread quick release plate connected to the H6 recorder.

    Hello Juan. Thanks for the nice compliment, I appreciate it! I have good news for you. I just double checked it today to make sure it works before answering your question. The answer is yes, you can use a Zoom PodTrak P4 and have a long 10 feet 3.5mm TRRS AUX cable connected from the headphone-in port on the PodTrak P4 and the other end going into your Canon camera. For my own setup using a Canon 90D DSLR camera, I have a long 10' feet CableCreation brand 3.5mm TRRS AUX cable going into my Canon 90D mic-in port on one end, and the other end going into the bottom of the PodTrak P4's headphone-in port, such as #4 headphone-in port on the far right side. To make this work, you need to adjust the headphone volume to around 7 to 7-1/2 (no higher) on the same #4 headphone-in port that you have the TRRS cable plugged into. Additionally, for whatever microphone you have plugged into the PodTrak P4, such as to Channel 1, you also need to adjust the gain dial to a suitable level such as to 6 or 7 as a starting point. My Canon 90D camera received and recorded the audio signal just fine that's coming from the PodTrak P4, while the P4 is also recording the same audio simultaneously. I should qualify by also saying that although the PodTrak P4 does not officially have a "Line Out" port such as what the Zoom H6 recorder has, nevertheless the PodTrak P4's headphone-in port effectively works as a Line Out port. I will also say that the signal from the headphone-in port is not as high quality as the normal XLR channels on top of the PodTrak P4, but it does work for transferring the audio to the camera. Since your camera is the Canon 60D which is very similar to my Canon 90D, having the 3.5mm TRRS AUX cable going into your camera's mic-in port should work just fine. If you find this information useful, please consider buying the new Zoom PodTrak P4 using my Amazon links found above in either the description or the first pinned comment. This means I will receive a small commission which will help me to keep producing helpful videos like this. In addition to buying the PodTrak P4 (via my Amazon link above), you will also need to purchase the 10 feet long CableCreation brand 3.5mm TRRS AUX Audio Cable (also via Amazon link above). I wish you good luck in your podcasting endeavors, and thank you for your support!

    Nice setup but audio drift will happen after 30 min. I should know bring zoom h5 user in studio. I run lineout wire to mic input on Canon g30 (xa20) and set preamp in camcorder to match zoom h5. Then run hdmi out into atomos recorder and out from atomos in 1000 nit monitor. Atomos and in camcorder capture video and audio but I only use dnxhd 220 mbit atomos files import into davanci resolve studio for editing. The audio is in sinc after solid hr. But if I record zoom card it drifts so I use cable because the Canon camcorder has studio preamps in cam.

    That's good information, I appreciate that! For filming, I've been using the Canon Vixia G60 camcorder and upload KZread videos in 4K quality to KZread which takes forever to render from the initial 360p to 1080p and finally to 4K, haha! I wish I had your Atomos monitor, instead I have 2 of the FeelWorld F6 Plus 5.5" monitors that I find to be good stuff. Best part is that I can power the monitor for many hours using an external rechargeable battery pack into the FeelWorld monitor that has a 5Volt USB-C power port. I also have Davinici installed on my computers, but for the life of me just can't get get motivated to figure out how to use it, haha! So I use CyberLink PowerDirector Ultimate 18 instead. If I need to record anything similar to the video I showed here, I now use a different setup which is the Rode Rodecaster Pro podcasting device with the Rode Wireless Go lavalier mic system connected to the Rodecaster to transmit a wireless audio feed to my camera. So many different ways to do things, LOL! Thanks for watching my video!

    Is the line out from the Zoom H6 mic voltage or hotter line voltage? If it is line voltage, doesn't the Zoom-Camera link need a 20db pad or apply a 20 db pad in the settings of the Zoom? Since this was not mentioned in the video, can I assume that the camera did not need any padding, either mechanical or from the settings in the camera? If I record a band using all for mic inputs, can I simply send the feed of all 4 inputs to the camera thru the line out?

  • @caseyonlocation8257

    @caseyonlocation8257

    3 жыл бұрын

    Howdy. I don't know what you mean by line voltage or hotter line voltage. I'm also not sure what you mean by padding...but no padding was applied, since the audio went straight from recorder to the camera with no adjustment/processing applied. Unfortunately, I cannot test your last question because I ended up selling the Zoom H6 recorder in favor of the new Zoom PodTrak P4 podcasting recorder. But if I had to guess, I would answer yes to your last question. If 4 separate mics are connected to all 4 XLR mic channels on the H6 at the same time, all the combined audio will be fed to the camera via the "Line Out" port on the bottom of the Zoom H6. You can use either a simple 3.5mm AUX cable, or use the Rode Wireless Go lavalier mic system connected to the Line Out port to transfer the audio to the camera in real time.

    @@caseyonlocation8257 Thanks for the Reply and your answer to the 4 separate mics and that will give me a feed out with all the tracks on the H6 to my camera. I have a 1/8 inch to XLR to run the line out to my camera. Padding (as I understand) is a connector like attachment with resistance to bring the voltage down from line voltage to mic voltage. Looks like, from what you saw on your camera, it is not needed as you went directly from the line out from the H6 to the camera. Thanks again.

    Hello, thanks for watching the video and asking the question. I'm not sure what you mean by "other" transmitter. There is only one transmitter and one receiver. The one transmitter connected to the Zoom H6 is sending real time wireless audio signal to the receiver attached to the DSLR camera for filming. There is no "other" secondary transmitter. I'm not sure if you might be referring to the latest Rode Wireless Go version 2 product that offers 2 separate wireless transmitters sending a signal to one receiver? That is the latest product that Rode just release for $299. I do not have that latest version 2 of the Go mic, I only have the original version from a couple years ago. Hope that answers your question. Please like and subscribe to my channel for more content!
