    Thank You SOOOO Much Sir!! This will hopefully help me to obtain a sharper focus. I'm tired of missing the mark due to bad eyes. My SL1, I can not rely on the lcd display, nor the viewfinder, for sharp, crisp images due to my issues. This just may be the solution. I have found everything you listed. Thanks. Needed to use my phone as an external monitor because the one on my DSLR is mounted to the back. I got everything up and running with an HTMI to HTMI mini cable and an Inland HDMI to USB-C adapter. It's not the best quality, but it works and shows me whether things are in focus or in frame for overhead shots.

    Fabulous, thank you Sir! I was poking around with the assumption SOMEONE would have come out with a simple cable to go from camera to phone/tablet. But nope. At least not that all of us could find. I am wondering though, as you say even this solution has some latency, how much more it is than the wifi solution already available with Lumix cameras? You do mention this comparison quickly. But as the larger monitor is of most value when setting up a shot, framing, and for checking focus, the latency may not be as big a deal as I can look at the small screen while shooting. All good options, though, thanks!

    I do satellite TV installations and have long thought it would be handy to be able to use my phone a monitor for a satellite TV receiver. This for situations when a customer does not yet have a tv in the room where they want a receiver which actually is quite common with movers. Sounds like this might be just the ticket.

    I have that video capture card. It may do well for this purpose, but with raw YUV, it really gets bottlenecked by the USB 2.0 connection. The MJPEG option used most commonly also has stuttering problems when there's so much motion - it saturated my USB bandwidth trying to record a high-action video game. If you need something less...laggy, look for a USB3.0 capture card.

    Jittery movement/Latency": Your video is just what I was looking for as I try to setup my Galaxy Note 8 Android phone to monitor my Panasonic GH3 on the new Weebill-S gimbal. I already had cables, a new 4K Cam Link capture unit and Samsung's own OTG adapter that came with the camera, so I thought I would be all set. The problem is that when I monitor the camera on the phone the view is very jittery with bad latency and would be unusable. I am testing with the Endoscope app that you suggested with the intention of buying a paid version if it worked well. Do you have any thoughts on why this latency would be happening? Could it be the app itself or some settings that I might be missing on either the phone or the camera? Any tips would be greatly appreciated as this seemed like a great solution for use with my new gimbal that is arriving tomorrow. Thanks for sharing these great tips with the KZread community!

    Interesting. I'm doing a lot of fiddling around, and have lots of alternative equipment, one good-enough Android with a reasonable screen and reasonable memory, one getting-on-a-bit-now Android with an amazing screen and lots of memory, a Linux box, an HMDI signal source, that HDMI/USB converter, and a dodgy-looking OTG cable which might just be a normal USB lead. So the lead could be a weak link, and it won't work with the new phone. It does work with Cheese on Linux, used for testing webcam feeds, which are much the same thing. So maybe I can test my phone software (and cable) with the webcam.

  • @robinhodson9890

    @robinhodson9890

    2 жыл бұрын

    Update: USB webcams can indeed provide a ready test feed, although all feeds are not created equal, and results will likely vary with varying feeds. I tried an OTG Hub instead of the recommended cable at first, and although it detects and identifies the webcam feed, it surprisingly doesn't have the bandwidth for the actual feed data. The recommended cable fixes that issue.

I can connect the camera with usb c directly to my laptop with sony software but sony refuse to make make an app for phones that works the same way. The standard sony app works wireless with wifi direct but is useless because of terrible latency. Sony advised me to by one of their field monitors and ensured me ther is no way to make a wired connection to a phone. This appeared obviously not true. ThAnks for your tip. Great video. I'm thinking of many combinations with this set up. Do you think with the app installed on your phone, you could connect it to live stream though NDI to capture the view from the phone screen? Trying to see if it would appear as another input. Thank you.

    @Virtual Bar5 So I tried it out and was able to get a clean screen on to a Zoom meeting. I bought the full version. I was able to test it but client opted out of adding a live video to their event so I just did a normal recording.

    Hello. Thank you for this video ! Is the latency due to the phone or the capture card? The latency is too much for use, so I would like to know if a higher end card or phone would reduce the latency to near zero. Thankyou.
