It’s built in, no app. You can find it in the menu bar up top

The important part you missed is both devices should have the same apple id

With picture bridge protocol you can do this at least over cable. You can even do this with professional camera's. Also apple should just include decent webcams

All the webcams in my laptops only use video calls, I don't need to demand high quality, and I don't have reason to use webcams in my laptops in other areas.

But About ps5

True, I've used old android phones for webcams before. But, apple seems to have implemented this in a much more user-friendly way. It "just works" with an iPhone and an up to date Mac, but android has a bit of faffing about to set up something like DroidCam.

you could do this on iPhones for ages as well through 3rd party apps. But this new implementation is much better than anything Android + Windows could ever do.

I have imac m1 ( mac os sonama )- 11 pro max (ios 17.1) and itis is not working

I can not get this feature working. Tried resetting iCloud login, plugging the iPhone into the Mac, restarting laptop and iPhone 😢
