For the record, that cauldron is a South African potjie, and "Best Duty" is the company that sells them. They're made in China and imported into South Africa; the last African-based manufacturer of those pots (Falkirk) sadly went out of business almost twenty years ago. Folks who want a cauldron like that can look online for a "potjie" or a "jambalaya pot," as well as a cast iron dutch oven or camp oven. Hope that helps.

I bought a small cauldron yesterday, with a handle but no lid, I think it's like 6" in measurement, I got it from this store called Madame Meerkat's Cabinet of Curiousities, really neat little shop where I live. I have a small, but glaring problem, however. I wanted to put it on its own little makeshift stand (I would have gotten one of some sort from the store but I only had the money for the cauldron and nothing else), or hang it from something, because the cashier at Madame Meerkat said I could putbut I don't have anything that I can think of off the top of my head. Is there a cheap, inexpensive DIY stand/hanger (preferably a hanger) of some sort I could put together with easy materials I could find laying around or maybe outside?

‘When we migrated from S.A. to N.Z. I brought my cauldrons with me (about 8x in different sizes). We use 2 for making potjie kos (pot food) and rest is my witchy cauldrons. I love cauldron magick and my goddess rituals always involve cauldron work. They are amazing and magical. I also love burning petitions in mine, I place a serviette on the base, add a bit of lamp oil on it as it burns for quite a long time and is smoke free, empower my herbs etc. and place it on the serviette, enchant my petition and place it on the serviette, then strike a match and drop it into the cauldron. It’s an amazing feeling when that flame rises up, and when I shake my rattles to raise energy then the flames rises even higher ... what can I say, its just a very exciting and a very witchy experience ... ‘thank you, and blessed be )0( ...

Thank you for sharing how you use it! I really love the idea of using if for goddess rituals in particular since its symbolic of femininity. I hadn't thought of including it for that specific reason. I also use it for burning petitions but I didn't think to use a table napkin and lamp oil! That's such an awesome idea and great way to minimize the smoke!! I don't like to use charcoal because of the smoke so I just burn my petitions directly and drop it into the cauldron on top of any herbs I put in prior to lighting the petition. I'm excited to try it the way you explained!! :D Blessed Be!

I would consider filling mine with Black Salt to bury a petition but I don’t feel I need to go digging a hole in the ground to do basically the same thing. I use mine to burn my loose herb incense with a charcoal disk. I like my little witchy cauldron for what I need it for. Plus the little lids flip over and work for loose leaf sage smudging. Mine was a gift, I actually never bought one before. Careful, they get really hot and they can burn you so fast you won’t even feel it until you smell flesh burning. They can also tip over easily because they are made with three feet. Best thing to have is a tile that’s perfectly flat for it to sit on for safety.

Thank you for the video! It was nice to get some new ideas. I particularly like the idea of burying the cauldron in the earth to "cook" the petition. There are so many cultures that actually cook food in the ground. When I was in Fiji I got to experience this many times and the food was amazing. This feels like a powerful way to incorporate additional earth energy into the working. I don't have a yard that I can do this in but I can see it being something I do the next time I go camping!! Do I understand correctly that even if we aren't actually cooking food in the cauldron, we should still season it? I read someones comment below about coconut oil and I like that idea since I use mine for burning things. I'm glad you brought up the flammability of oil and the importance of not applying too much. After we've oiled it and heated it up a little bit, is it a good idea to wipe out any access oil at that time or do we want it to be visibly coated? Thank you for all your help and information!

I'm sure no one will agree with me on this - I'm used to it. I have meditated and talked with my guides and there is no such thing, really, as masculine energy or awareness. Its all feminine. For a want of better names, I'm still working on that, I call them feminine type A and feminine type B. You have feminine A awareness and energy and I have feminine B awareness and energy. That, along with a few hormonal differences, is what really makes us different. Angels are also seperate while the elmental beings, like gaia and her/his mother/father Iraneth, are both. Duality in all things. Iron, atomic number 26, is amaizing. Its the heaviest element made in our sun or any sun. The heaver elements, colbalt and higher, are all only made during a supernova. Geek fact :-) Season a cauldron like a wok and dont use detergent - just wipe clean and re-season - its never hurt me!. I like coconut oil as its 97% saturated fat and doesn't break down at high temperatures into carcinogens. Thank you for the time and effort you have spent researching and making this. Love Deeper.

oh there is masculine energy, why put angels as different tho? spirits are spirits and thats a period. Masculine energy is because physically speaking we are different, there are some spirits who choose to appear strictly as big horned masculine destruction demons and thats just the end if it, spiritually speaking there is no feminine or masculine but just enrgy feminine and masculine are only in the physical, in the spirit world there are no genders, spirits are not set in stone about their looks or gender or color of skin, all of that is just physical and we interpret spirits as male or female so thats how they choose to communicate so that we can understand, saying its more feminine is simply not true.
