How To USE YOUR ARMS | The TRUTH You Need To Improve

Спорт

In this video I talk about how you use your arms in your golf swing. Backswing, downswing and impact and of course your follow through. Four areas of the golf swing that will help you improve your impact, improve your ball striking, improve your top of backswing and improve the consistency of your golf game.
Lowering your handicap is the key to enjoying the game, I aim to help you with lowering your scores.
I hope you enjoy!

Found I was pushing down and raising arms too early. By turning around further before raising I seem to have more power and am finding the centre of the face instead of the toe. Hope this transfers from a net in the garage (weather too bad) to the course .Really useful video.

Starting to be firm believer, trying to undo or erase mind maps of motions and conceptions. Watching your demonstration, one can see a Raymond Floyd motion of compensation. So if we have hours upon hours of practices we can make any swing repeat. Seems. most instruction is based “on plane return “relative to set up, but almost all ends up with higher hands at and thru impact. Your discussion of set up is focused on more 90 vs the 45 angles we have all been advised. Look like better geometry and good coaching….😊

Another great video ! I guess I would the the golfer under the “utter tripe” category as I definitely lower early and from the inside and a high finish😂. That said, I am trying to experiment and this is a great explanation . I am struggling though as a late lowering and outward movement seems to lead to an over the top and over the plane swing? What can I do to better manage the handle and get that nice AoA and draw??

I got a lot from that Stu. Great overview. I struggle with being too flat and laid off, so will try to feel lift of the hands a touch later and see if it improves. I’ve always found that I get flat because I want to feel where the club is (with its weight sitting in my trail hand and flat). When I swing it best and more upright in the backswing it feels like I’m out of control because the shaft is more in balance/standing up therefore I feel like I don’t know where it is gonna go as I transition. What’s challenging for me is that the feel of this is ‘no feel’ so I fall back into the habit of laying it off so I know where the shaft is but then have poor mechanics. Any tips welcome 🙏🏻

  • @GoodGolfCoaching

If you are flat Chris, delay the arm lift as late as possible, this will fix you. Irrespective of what the club head does, take the handle as deep as possible in the early phase of your golf swing. Hope that makes sense. Best wishes Stu

Sorry but I do not agree with the explanation of a one plane swing. As I understand it the plane is not effectively parallel to the ground but instead angled roughly 90 degrees to the angle of the spine or possibly the club shaft at address with the idea that the club shaft always swings along that plane - never really dived into exactly what it is because I am sure there is a reason so few players use. Apart from that an excellent video - yet again. For me the difficult part to visualise is in transition - I have no idea whether I get the arms out then down or if I do whether I do it enough (a subject for another lesson I think!)
