How To Use Wise Owl Paint Furniture Salve as a Top Coat - Pro Tips in Video Description

I've been doing a lot of Wise Owl Paint Furniture Salving this week, and I thought it would be fun to share just how easy it is with this quick Time Lapse and some tips if you're new to it.
Pro Tips to Salving as a Top Coat;
- Using the right brush - Wise Owl's Premium Brush in the 2 inch Palm - It's easy to hold and it's size is great to cover larger areas fast. It's my go-to for top coating using Salve.
- You don't need much, dab just a little on the end of your brush.
- Brush on the Salve. And anyway you like!!! Up, down, left, right, circles, loopty doos... however. The beauty of their Salve is there's ABSOLUTELY NO STREAKING!!! It goes on beautifully even.
- Let it sit for about 20 minutes then wipe off excess with a lint free cloth. I use a blue shop towel sometimes... don't mind me... it will leave a lil lint from that. So have a buffing brush handy to brush those out... or just use a lint free cloth like you're supposed to LOL!
- Since it's Hemp Oil based, depending on how it absorbs into the paint, will depend on what comes next...
- If it absorbs super quick and looks like it never got any Salve, then you likely need another coat. This happens when there's layers of paint and primer, like multiple coats... Not always, but just wanted to relay that.
- If it doesn't absorb fully you'll have some wetness stick around. This is totally normal with anything Hemp Oil based and means in the first few days after you'll need to buff out those spots until it dries fully. I'd recommend every other day for a week if this happens. This happens if you use too much OR if your humidity is too high where you are painting.
- Once dry, the curing time starts. I'd give it 30 days to cure and very light usage to ensure it is given time to harden. At first it won't seem like it's going to... but it will, just needs that time.
- The Salve and paint become one after those 30 days and give a beautifully Matte finish like nothing else. And a strong finish for general use. I've seen it on table tops and feel it could work there, but recommend Wise Owl Varnish for high traffic, heavy use tops.
- Salved areas that are NOT high traffic areas should last up to 10 years before it may need to be recoated. This usually a sign is that the color may dull some... I have never seen this myself, but in generalities, this is anything Hemp Oil based.
- The Unscented Hemp Salve has some color to it... would not recommend on Snow Owl if trying to keep it Snow Owl. But the color is so slight, I would have no issue using it on any other color and there is NO noticeable change. But I always recommend testing if you're not sure, especailly for lighter colors. I just used it on the new "Restoration" color and saw no noticeable change.
This finish on the desk was "Refurbished Gentleman", with a wash of "Carbon" done in long vertical streaks, then the Salve. Next will be Hemp Oil Black Furniture Wax. I usually wait until the Salve is dry before going onto the Wax steps when I Salve. Final pictures and details for this finish will be coming soon. For now I hope this info was helpful. Please feel free to share if you know someone wanting to try Wise Owl's Furniture Salve, I promise, it's the easiest top coat you'll ever use!!!

    Would this type of topcoat work for a dresser made into a bathroom vanity - there's a shower there.

    It can, as long as you have good ventilation but for areas where moisture is an issue I’d likely use out Varnish or One Hour Enamel Clear Coat 👍
