I am 52 years of age and lived my entire life on a farm - no one has ever taught me how to fix a fence with the strainers so thank you Farming Life Australia - I now know how to fix a fence - first wire no so great but by the 5th, I must say I was doing a pretty good job!

Thank you so very, very much. I had always used the one piece fence strainer with the end that you slip around a pole and it ratchets up. I have always had problems with the wire grip slipping. I purchased a set of stretcher you have demonstrate here. It was working but you gave me very useful tips that make things so much easier. My summer repairs and new pasture lines will go so much easier. I'm very grateful for your help.

This was a great video John, I've always wondered how they do this. This reminds me of a guy we worked with in a panel shop. We would pull damaged cars out on a floor rack with chairs and hydraulic porta powers. This guy always used the old cable ratchet until one day the cable snapped and nearly killed someone. They told him no more using that. Everyone had their own ways but we couldn't work out why he used that. Great video, learnt something again.

its funny, l helped a cocky down the Otway's to fix a broken wire on his fence just a few days ago with one of these wire strainers, he used little joiner thingy's after getting a good tightness that attached the wire back together in the middle of the fence where the deer had been getting through, it was an experience thankyou for this interesting video

Nice demo buddy. Haven’t used one of these ever so had a go couple hours ago. Didn’t do too bad but thinking now, trying to strain a batten fence isn’t ideal lol. Still, any help is always welcomed. Cheers bud 👍🇳🇿

Grew up with stretchers but got on to Hayes strainers a few years ago with Tim Thompson, wish I had them 30 years ago. I need to oil mine today.

Most tools you use in australia elsewhere they don't exist.a good example is trocar and canula. We use heavy gauge needle syringe and little water in the syringe
