HOW TO USE WATERCOLOR - Introduction Tutorial
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
The first of hopefully, many tutorial videos to come! PLEASE, keep in mind that this isn't the 'ONLY' way to go about watercolour; it's what I've learnt through my years of practicing, so take what you can from it!

I have to tell you that a couple years ago I got interested in doing water color. I followed this tutorial and copied the image of this girl that you taught. A couple years before this I became great friends with my neighbor. My husband was working a ton and she was a single mom so our relationship grew into more of a co-parenting relationship with our combined 7 children. Her 3 girls and my 4 boys. For a while I had the kids do water color with me. The youngest girl discovered her love for art and was always drawing after that. She was 6 at the time. A couple months ago the girls were traveling with their dad and got in a car accident and all 3 girls passed away. I found the water color image I made and realized the version I did resembled the oldest girl. It was also special to me because I made that image while I was with them. It inspired me to make a water color image for the other 2 girls. I put it on a 4”x 4” canvas and glued the dried flowers from their funeral to make up their clothing, bouquets, and put a flower in their hair and then I gave the canvases to their mom. Such a small and simple thing, but it was a ripple effect of you sharing your talent.

This is super late but anyway, you don't need many brushes. Just make sure they have enough snap (they keep their shape better idk how to explain it but there are yt videos on snap of brushes) and get maybe one super thin, one medium and one bigger round brush. Obv it depends on what you want to paint but those 3 should suffice for most things. Maybe get one flat brsuh too for harsh edges.

I guess you have figured it out, since your comment is 1 year old, but I'll say it anyways: It's a matter of the paper you're using. Special watercolour paper doesn't absorb the water too quickly, so you have a tiny bit more time to work with it.

I started studying art a few years ago and got so frustrated because I hated the way I was being taught so I gave up and I haven't picked up a brush since then (except from makeup brushes, I'm a makeup artist lol). It was my dream for a big part of my life to be an artist, and I guess I am in a different way, but It still makes me so sad when I think about how something I loved so so much suddenly got asociated to a negative feeling in my mind... I've tried to retake it so many times and failed, I never felt inspired enough.. And your video just made me really wanna try again and be creative so thank you so much, I'm gonna get some paper and find my old watercolor palette and start creating again :) Thank you so much, this video really made a difference to me

Just do it the way your heart desires! To me art has no exact rules, and everyone has their own unique way to do it, that's what makes art so awesome!
I find myself desperately wanting to create art again, whether it's to paint, draw or color. But then when I have all my supplies out and get ready to get to work... I lose my motivation because I don't know what to paint, or I feel it's ugly. And so I just put all the stuff back and do something else, like browse the net and waste time :/

It might be worth it :)

The first time I painted with watercolour, I didnt let the paint dry on my canvas and that made painting incredibly difficult as I had a lot less control. Also make sure you dont use an abundance of water because it will take forever to dry and it may not look as good!

I'm a water color artist and I had to paint this giant backdrop mural for my school performance and I'm just so used to using water to blend what I want so when the director came and was watching me paint he was amazed at me dipping my hands and sponges into a bucket of water. hahaaa I'll never quite get how to blend acrylic paint without water.. The mural turned out great tho 😄
This cheerful and relaxed approach was just the little push I needed to actually pick up one of my brand-new brushes and finally begin on my own path with this medium that has fascinated me since the day as a child when I used the only materials at hand. I employed a piece of slick card stock paper from a package of silk stockings, diluted food coloring and blended colors, a wooden toothpick, and a Q-tip to paint a rainbow trout. It was the best result, surprisingly enough and my mother could barely believe I'd done it with those supplies. Now 72 years later, I'll try to do it 'right.' Thanks for this video and your enthusiasm.
Thank you so much for making these tutorial videos! I got a tutorial book for watercolor recently and it assumed people already knew these techniques, and were using tube watercolor. I use a pallete of watercolor paints and felt like I was missing so many steps! I also love how inclusive this is of any budget or type of watercolor paint, it doesn't assume only some paints/papers are being used by us.
I would love to see you do a collab with PearFleur!

It's not about the expenses of your materials but about what you create. So try out even from a kid store, if you end up saving and doing good in arts you can try and step up but it doesn't matter what it costs.
I recently wanted to watercolor for a long time, but I finally have time to do this! Also, thank you so much for the video! It really helped me out! 💖

I've been watercoloring for a while and always felt I was doing it wrong even though my paintings have turned out rather good. Thank you for this video! It eased my worry but it also very much informed me. ❤🎨 Keep painting! You're very talented.

I've bought a water color set today and can't wait to use them
Years later your video is still be enjoyed...thanks for the help!
very helpful!! watercolor is so troubling to master..
This is actually really helpful, even for such a simple video. I've been using a lot more watercolors than before lately. Once I thought I would use it for my drawing because I was sure the effect watercolors create would be the best and it reminded me how much of a fun it is (before that, I hadn't been using watercolors for years actually), so I am willing to learn more about them. Thank you for helping :)
Thank you! Just getting started. Bought my first watercolors. Excited to learn something new!
Thanks for the advice. I feel prepared to step into a new medium!
can you do a video on how to use watercolor pencils?
Your watercolor skills are amazing! Very nice tutorial! :)
Absolutely loved how this looks.
I just got my first watercolor paint set and I'm starting to learn the art. This video was very informative. Thanks!

Sadly, it's not a real song! It's just a little song that my friend and I wrote and recorded together (if you listen carefully, you can hear me!) I WISH it was a real song haha, hate to let you guys down! It seriously does make me smile so much that people have been asking about the song so often, maybe I'm not too shabby with music after all

You and your friend should create a soundcloud and make some music! And of course, post the sample of this song as you guys complete it, that would be dope +kelogsloops Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it. You had me captivated the whole time

kelogsloops Awwww that is so sad. I was trying to find the song, too. :((( would you mind letting us hear through the rest of the song or just somewhere we can listen it to? Also, great job for you and your friend! Love your art! ❤️
