    I have a question. I had the Pioneer AVH-5600BHS and when you used the mic to do the auto EQ you're not able to change any EQ settings only the sound presets. With the newer NEX radios, can you change any EQ settings after you run the Auto EQ or are you stuck once again with what the Auto EQ gives you?

    That was the one feature I was hoping would make it into the NEX radios. Right now the only radios that have that feature are the AVH models (except the 4100). It is called Network Mode and we have a video up on it. What the radios do have is the ability to turn on and off any xover, but no bandpass. Thank you for the question.

    Great video! Can you tell me what's the purpose of the crossover "Phase". I played with my 4100. I toggle back and forth the phase and discovered the subwoofer was louder. Will that cause any damage to the amp or subwoofer by choosing the wrong phase? Thanks for your help.

  • @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    7 жыл бұрын

    Michael Zeiss no it will not cause any damage to the sub. The reason it is there is sometimes the woofer, because they are mounted facing backward or far away, can play backwards to the other speakers. This is out of phase, turn it on will get them back in phase and sounding better.

    Have you guys ever used Pioneers Auto EQ? I just got the AVH-4200NEX and did the Auto EQ with the mic. It disables the Rear Speaker option. Is that normal? It does sound absolutely amazing still, but I'm wondering why it doesn't it add any time alignment to the rear speakers as well?

    I just installed a 4100NEX in my Mazda CX-5 with an amp/Subwoofer combo. I've had the amp/Subwoofer for about 7 years, and have installed it in a couple other vehicles with no issues. My issue is the bass when using Bluetooth or connected through Android Auto is underpowered or feels underwhelming. However, when I have a CD in the deck the bass sounds good and booms like normal. This bass issue seems like it is not just limited to the subwoofer, but it is the most obvious with the subwoofer. Do you know what might be the problem? Is this is a settings issue?

    There could be an EQ of some kind turned on in the phone. It could also be the music service you are listening to has poor play back. You may also want to reset the radio and start over, something may be out of tune. Some Samsung phones also have a lower volume then normal ( not all phones). Hope this helps, thank you for the question.

    Here is the video on the AVH EQ settings kzread.info/dash/bejne/fp11r7V_lanLmcY.html It sound s like the gain and bass boost on your sub amp are wrong. The Pioneer radios have a 4 volt output over the RCAs. That means the gain needs to be pretty much all the way down on your amp.

    Love your videos guys. I'm getting closer by the day to installing my 4200nex and I am currently researching how to set the hpf and lpf...not to mention the slope and that was a really great description you just gave to help me understand it. My first question is whether to turn off hpf/lpf on the amp and configure it only on the 4200. Just so you know what else is involved; the amp is Pioneer GM-D9605, front speakers Alpine spr-60c component (65Hz-29kHz) and soundbar rear speakers (Jeep JKU), Kicker CS65 coax (40hz - 20,000) and sub is JL Audio Stealthbox (26 - 200 Hz). I realize some of this is trial and error, but where would you start ?

  • @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    8 жыл бұрын

    We like to use the amps LPF&HPF when all is said and done. We typically start with the radios crossovers just to get an idea of where we want it. Then we adjust the amp to those settings. This is more for safety then anything, that way if the battery is disconnected the customer won't blow their speakers. This will also prevent your friend from screwing up your stuff when your not looking. Both in the end will sound the same.

  • @jeffh2125

    @jeffh2125

    8 жыл бұрын

    I'm not following you on the safety aspect when disconnecting the battery unless you mean that it's probably easier to get to the amp to disconnect the rca leads or blue power wire. Would you do that before taking your car in for service? That brings up a question. Is it possible to play just using the HU's power if you turn off the amp? Seems that a nice feature of a HU would be a password protected volume limit. Also seems like a "too bad" situation that you have that nice graphic, easily accessible crossover config in your HU, only to have to mess with hard to get to and hard to see pots. You'd think at the very least there would be some HU interface to the amp's crossover settings. Thanks for your input. Hope you can explain the battery part to me.

  • @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    @FiveStarCarStereoInc

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Jeff H if you disconnect the battery to radio goes back to 0. If you do not know you need to turn the crossovers back on you car blow the speakers. That would be why we set the amps crossover. For others that like to use the radio, after setting up the radio, we take photos. Then we show them how to set up the radio and hope for the best.

  • @jeffh2125

    @jeffh2125

    8 жыл бұрын

    Oh, oh, oh....I got it. Ok, so the HU loses its settings when battery power is lost and the full range of sound gets sent to each of the speakers until you reset it. That is really bad. I mean ; that's a really bad design. Now don't get offended, but are you sure some HU's aren't designed to save that info in solid state drives or something? It would seem to me to be a no brainer to do that given the consequences of those values not being saved. Thanks so much for explaining.

    The problem you are having is you are trying to use time correction on the Bose stereo. That's not going to work right because the Bose amp does not interface with the radio like a true aftermarket amp. The Bose amp has factory summing and equalization done in the amp not the factory radio. When using an aftermarket radio in a Bose system it is just for media not sound manipulation. To use the features in the aftermarket radio, unfortunately you need to take out the Bose amp. Hope this helps, thanks.

    I think it is too but I was told that it's the factory fade so I figured I'd ask you guys.. it's the axxess module, I couldn't find a pac that would work. I used the pac in my 05 yukon with no problems.

    Michael Beseler yes it is a digital fader controlled from the Axxess interface. The PAC harness is the RP5-GM31

    Yes it loves to do that. Every time we do it, it does the same thing. I keep forgetting to ask them about that. If we ever get to make that video we may have an answer.

    Crossover? ... what is the crossover frequency range. If I need sub+mid+tw. I want cut off 63 sub, 80 mid + 2200 and 3200 tw. It's Impossible! Why Pioneer company call it crossover. It is useless future and not working for SQ systems.
