    I remember a defibrillator that sounded like the one here, except the only thing I heard from it was "Tear open package, and remove pads".

    So are scissors and other tools. It is advised to remove watches, piercings if possible to prevent burning.

    Jemama Bee Instead of shaving you can put pad on skin and remove quickly. Faster than shaving and recommend ed by drs

    Usually there are two sets of pads if the there is a second set available that's the same size apply it and rip it off like waxing the Patients ches

    What if you can't shave the chest? Seems like there isn't much time to do that sort of thing when someone is in need of an AED. Right?

    If you don't. You risk not delivering the charge properly, which is completely ineffective. So take the extra few seconds to make it right.

    If you dont deliver the shock correct it wont work no matter how much you try, so shave the chest as fast and as efficiently as possible even if you think it may be wasting time

    Wonder, if the patient is a lady, should the upper body of the patient necessary be removed/opened up in order to apply the patches on the body ?

    Yeah okay. Let me just break out my razor and shave off any extra hair before i apply the pads. Wtf. When seconds saves lives i dont think i would be too worried about shaving the hair.

    You obviously don't get the concept. Hair is somehow an insulator. If it's in between the bare skin and the AED pads, the electric shock won't be effective.

    How in God's name are you supposed to shave someone's chest in a 1st Aid Situation?! Hair free is ideal and all that, but you have 3 minutes from collapse to defibrillate- get on with it!

    I wouldn't think it has to be completely hair free. Just enough for the pads to have good contact.

    If I couldn't find anything I would claw away skin and hair or at least most of it . The only training i got is watching two KZread videos so my advice could be very terrible.
