How To Use Texture Paste For Card Making

Embossing paste, also known as texture paste, is such a neat way to add interest to card projects. In this video I'll share what supplies you need to get started with embossing paste, including palette knives and a silicone craft mat. I'll talk about how to store paste, and the importance of sealing it tight to keep it from drying out. I'll also share two different ways of drying the paste including allowing it to air dry and using a heat tool. In addition I'll share 13 different ways to use paste on your projects, including with stencils, how to add colors, using paste with punches and die cuts, adding texture with burlap and other materials, using stamps with paste, adding embossing powder, combining paste with chalk pastels and gilded leafing, adding sand, glitter or other substances, and more! I never would have thought to stamp on top of paste. That is a cool background texture look! Can't wait to try that.

Nice job Anna! I really love the bird card where you colored the paste with Suede. It turned out awesome!
Try using an old credit card to smooth the paste after you put it on with your pallette knife. Also, put press n seal on the jar and screw the cap over it to seal the paste in after you open it.

I would use a used up giftcard. Old credit cards are still a bit risky to have lying around.Ours get shredded.

@@wendywilson1736 actually I use a card that looks like a credit card, but isn't.
For storage, Press N Seal is the best stuff I have ever used. If you don’t have a pallet knife (the plastic ones are super cheap at Michael’s) you can use an old gift card or store card.

When the paste is drying out at the bottom of the jar, can a little bit of water be added to soften it?
Doesn't the dried paste crack in the mail, considering how the mail is handled?
Great tips, thank you. I put a piece of Press and Seal down into the jars of paste then screw the tops on tightly. Wax paper breaks down the Press and Seal does not.
