Hey, I have a question if I may. What if my Cinema 4D model is in a subdivision surface? What should I uv unwrap? The original lower poly or should I make the subdivision surface editable and unwrap that to texture in Substance?

You have Adobe Dimension setting in Substance Export Textures panel, I don´t have that setting on mine... the exporting maps are other and different than yours...

Great Tutorial thanks so much for your time! :)
Excellent tutorial.
Very nice information Sir
very good video. You explain very well. Just i want to ask you how can do the same thing that just saw but big resolution for example 8000x7000 i want it for print. When you export it from substance painter all the text was 2000 pixels. The question is how can from substance painter exrport big resolution or render because i have substance painter 2018 but i dont know how export from there big resolution for example 8000x7000 the only option is substance painter is 4000 pixels. If you have or somebody some link for some article or some video pls sent me. Again very good video very helpful and very useful. Thank you very much have a great day.
Amazing tutorial, thank you :)
Great tutorial. Subbed. One issue is how do you add these to a material in C4D if you dont have Octane? Also looks like your using an old C4D version which still has Specular as a seperate option. Confusing now its part of Reflectance.
Thank you really useful tutorial keep it up :)
I have a problem, when i export the textures from substance painter and reapply to my .fbx in c4d, the textures are flipped, how do i fix this?
Thanks for the tutorial
hey ryan, Im doing a hard surface model with a lot of edges and in substance the edges are not sharp at all (like the phong shader in c4d) How can I disable the phong ? Thanks a lot for this tut, it was really useful !

Substance painter will use whatever Phong setting you have in C4D if you are exporting as an .fbx. Try deleting the phong tag in C4D and re-exporting the .fbx. Then back in SP, find [edit > project configuration] and reload your mesh. The change should then reflect and your layers should be in tact as long as you didn't change anything else about the model!
Cool!
VERY GOOD
hi, I have a problem doing this with my model. It's an old gumball machine, and I have the gumballs made with cloner. I really don't know why, but if I hit "current state to object" it resets all the animation and it doesn't really work. Would you have a suggestion? I need to unwrap the gumballs UVs in order to texture them on Substance. Thank you very much for the tutorial, that was very useful :)
awesome thanks!
Don't matter how long you take, long as you do it cause you love to
Thank you very much!!!!!
So I followed your tutorial, however on my larger flat surfaces I am experiencing huge smudges, the textures are just straight lines (as if it was smudged way too much) and I have no idea how to resolve this issue... can you help?

It's the same process as what he did, just apply the textures in default Cinema 4D materials.
