How to use stain and odor blocking primer to prep for furniture painting

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

**Please note, I no longer use and cannot recommend Dixie Belle Paint products due to highly questionable business practices, contract violations, and unethical treatment of artists and retailers that led to mine and numerous others resignations in late 2021. Please see the links below for more information. I have chosen to leave this video content up for learning purposes only, but highly recommend considering other products when trying to achieve these same techniques. There are too many good product brands on the market to support a brand with these practices. I've included links to my most used options below

Love your channel! You are a great teacher. Thank you for such wonderful information. I recently inherited a 12 drawer dresser that had been in my parents bedroom as long as I can remember. My mom was a smoker and this dresser has several cigarette burns. Here’s my question for you: Should I sand the burns and then use DB mud? Or fill in with Bondo? Or???? Thanks in advance.

Hi brandy! Can you put boss or slick stick on raw wood?

  • @carolmking

I used the Boss as directed but I did not scuff sand my piece and when I did a scratch test it scratched right through. Now I'm worried about painting over the Boss.

That is a stain blocking primer only, will not help with grip. I no longer use that brand, enjoying this primer that is stain blocking and gripping in one, so you just need one primer bit.ly/32Nfhy7

I failed to understand why you can’t paint white over the grey Boss. Looks pretty light, with another and better coverage. Am I wrong?

Thank you so much!! I just started painting as a hobby. I still don’t know what I’m doing, and figuring this all out without your videos would have been IMPOSSIBLE!! You’re the best! I’ll buy the grey boss when my white Boss finished. Tight hugs to you!

No, they are all right side up, I try to shake them regularly to keep fresh and order 16 oz so it's not more than I can use before it ages

Hey that's helpful. On their website and how to book it says to allow the first coat to dry for one hour and the second 24. That's what I ended up doing but I noticed the Clear Boss dried down to a more milky finish and maybe it's because I didn't wait 24 in between coats. Any thoughts? thank you!

Hi Brandy! I have stripped and bleached my kitchen cabinets, which are a light wood but the rags are still coming off orangey dirty. So my question is, would I use White Boss first before apply “picklin’ white” no pain gel stain?

Brandy. I am fairly new to chalk painting. Having done several small items, I am now ready to do a bedroom suit. I will be doing a dresser, chest of drawers, and queen size headboard. Can you possibly tell me approximately now much Dixie Bell it will take? Have learned so much from you.

A 32 oz would be enough for 2 coats if using one color. Some colors like red or white may need more coats and I'd get a bit extra
