HOW TO USE SPORT MODE CORRECTLY: 2013 CHARGER R/T

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I’ll give accurate tips and demonstrations on how to use Sport Mode properly on 2011-2014 Charger and Challenger R/T w/automatic transmission.
Key Tip:
Shifting past 5700 rpm but before 5900 rpm will help you achieve the purpose of sport mode, which is to squeeze out a few additional horsepower and safely elongated each gear.

    This is a really good video! I had no idea sport mode would keep it in gear for a lesser amount of time and I’ve owned the car for over a goddamn year. My AWD RT came with the paddle shifters so this gives me a bigger excuse to use them more often lol

    On my 2012 charger R/T I can engage sport mode and it will keep me at a higher RPM always ready to go, & I’m not sure if it does this in regular mode but if I floor it at 60 mph in Sport mode it drops to second gear and makes the most power it can for roll races..

  • @CandyBusiness

    @CandyBusiness

    That’s true. The 5spd Nag-1 Transmissions strongest gears are 2nd and 3rd. Going full throttle at 60mph with Sport Mode activated will downshift to 2nd gear starting around 4K rpm which is a beefy area to deliver power. 👍

    I thinking of buying a 2012 dodge charger srt8 but my dad wants me to buy a 2017 dodge charger rt because he believes it will hold its value longer but the srt8 has almost same interior and more powerful engine so what do you think???

  • @CandyBusiness

    @CandyBusiness

    2 жыл бұрын

    SRT holds significantly more value than a R/T, period. Depending on your finances remember to look at the overall cost of ownership between both trims. A 2012 SRT will cost minimum 30%-40% more across the board compared to a R/T. Tune ups, brakes, tires, oil changes, electrical failures, engine work, plus the 12’ is already out of warranty. The 17’ may still have warranty left if it’s under 60k mi and less than 5yr old. Adding warranty to the 17’ R/T may be between $1,500-$2,500 and about $3,000-4,000k for the 12’ SRT. Feel free to ask me any questions. I’ll give you straight forward factual answers

    @@CandyBusiness thanks for replying and yeah i thinking of buying the 2012 dodge charger srt8 with 78k miles clean title for 20k it's just my dad thinks just because it's from the year 2012 that he doesn't think i should spend 20k for car that old and he thinks just because the rt charger is from 2016 or 17 that it will hold its value longer but i don't think the 2012 srt8 value will go down anytime soon right???

  • @CandyBusiness

    @CandyBusiness

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'm saying this from a place of empathy and love. The 12' SRT will hold its value better but unfortunately it slips away as each new model year SRT comes out. Its worth 20k today but will be less as it ages each year and gains more mileage. For example Madden 15, upon release, cost around $50. That same Madden today holds value because it a high tier EA product, but as each new calendar Madden games comes out, the value of Madden 15' steadily declines. 20k for an 12' SRT with 78kmi is a decent price but your father is looking from a place of longevity. The 12' SRT is 10yrs old, meanwhile the 17' R/T is 4yrs old. Its' more of a guarantee that you'd enjoy the quarrelsome free lifespan of a younger car than an older one. If you have the money to purchase and maintain either option then go for it. In 2015 I had to choose between my 13' R/T and a 12' SRT so I can understand your dilemma. I bought the R/T for two main reasons. 1. Overall less lifetime cost. 2. Still having the freedom to save money over the past years even with unforeseeable life changes. I recommend to a take a peak on my R/T review. You don't have to watch the video but I suggest you to look at the very first comment and the reply I gave this person. Correct. The good news is your charger has the 8spd trans. This means when you get more and more comfortable using the paddles, you’ll be able to shoot ahead in a roll race thanks to the 8spd trans keeping you at a high RPMs which means you’ll fully exert both HP & Torque. Use sport mode and try to manually shift each gear about .300 RPM further then where the trans shift’s automatically in full throttle. 👍

    So…couple of things. I don’t really disagree with the video, the reason for it, or even the ideas behind the TCM logic (it’s not all correct but it’s close enough). My thing is….you have to show people the ROI. There’s more to “sport mode” than the TCM logic, although that’s the largest chunk of it. So you’ve engaged the paddles or manually shifting, awesome. Show me how much faster I can get to 60, how much faster I can go in the 1/8, the 1/4, etc. You have to give a better reason than….this is the right way. You tell me you’re not going faster, you have to prove it. Give the metrics, it’ll help make your point. All you showed is that you can sort of kinda shift when you’re supposed to, inconsistently, and that gives me….what? See what I mean? Great idea for a video though. It’s not just this car, TCM logic is a good conversation to have for any car.
