Yeah, don't think so my friend. Lol. The way I do it is run a swivel hook on my cherry picker, get the engine stand attached to the motor, jack the hoist up high enough for the stand to clear the legs and spin it around. Fits like a glove between the legs of the hoist and rolls out no problem

Exactly. Cup the crane around the back of the stand, spin the motor 180°. Hook it i up. Push it away. It it doesn’t work you’re only pushing the rear stand casters off the hoist legs. An added “safety chain” could give you the length needed to push off without turning over. I’m glad he got it but damn that looked sketch. 😳

I have the exact same set-up and was extremely frustrated when I found the engine and motor stand were "miles apart" and I totally get it that this video demonstrates an awkward way of getting the motor mounted to the stand. However, if you take your time the process works! Thank you, OMG!

For those in the comments suggesting "cupping" the hoist and stand, by spinning the engine 180 degrees, I suggest you throw a tape measure on the rear of the stand crossmember. Do the same between the hoist legs, and let me know what you come up with. My set up (same hoist, different jack stand) wouldn't work with your suggested "cupping", nor, does it appear, would it for Ozark Mountain - the hoist legs are not wide enough for the rear end of the stand. He suggests a work around that worked for him - which is WAAAAY more stable than what I did when presented with the same problem. Nice job Ozark Mountain! Wish I would have found this a few days ago. At least I now have a way to get the engine back onto the hoist!

At 5:12 with the legs of the stand cupped, all you had to do was remove the pins on the hoist and as you pull back on the stand the hoist legs would be pulled out and fold down. done.

Nice video and crazy dangerous. I would go with larger caster/wheels on the engine hoist so the engine stand can go underneath the hoist leg. 2nd or add a larger piece of chain to the engine hoist chain this way you can swing out the engine enough reach and maneuver it onto the stand, Just my 2-cent, but, good video to learn form. Thank you.

I just removed the wheels from my hoist. The engine stand just rolled over it.

  • @N269

Remove the hoist wheels (as they are bigger than the stand). Remove the wheels, bush them by enough so the stand arms can roll under the hoist arms. Might take a little welding, but then you can easily transfer engine from hoist to stand.

*caution if you are new to this* Take the Red Engine Stand and turn it around backwards. Put it behind the Engine and wheel it strait out. Please don’t do what is being shown in this video. You could get hurt or tip your heavy engine over and damage it.

Install blocks between the castors and the frame to make the engine stand higher so the engine jacks legs go underneath engine stand legs

Ericthecarguy did that, but the stand needs to be turned 90% so that it slides in from the side rather than facing the crane. But that seems to be a good solution.

The chain with the hook binds, would need to install a swivel, problem is I have very little clearance above motor when installing or removing.

Buy a leveler hoist, it has enough chain length to slide the engine in with no problem. Otherwise great video sir.

I have run into the same problem. I don't know why most hoist need to be in that V configuration. They may save space but they are limited in their use compared to a hoist in the H configuration. And they H shaped hoist are expensive!

I am pissed I bought this same engine stand. What a load of crap to have to do it like this to get it to work. And of course it’s too much work to try to put it in the box and take it back, so now I’m a stuck with it. Should have researched more and bought the geared Sunex.

Lift stand & engine , spin 180 degrees & lower down. Then disconnect chain & roll engine stand away.

Instead of letting it down on the legs, why not just spin the whole thing 180 degrees, let it down and wheel it out? Am I missing something?

Dissapointed that these are not compatible. I have an engine leveler and what I have to do is lift the stand onto the plate where the stands legs are in the air I put one of the hoists legs into the middle of the stand. Then I have to push on the stand as I lower it and it gives it enough room to sit without hitting the hoist legs. Not a fan

Why not use an engine tilting jig spin the engine 360% set it down between the lift legs and unhook the engine and roll it out.

Can you not just hoist the engine with the stand bolted on and then spin it 180 degrees in the air so that the stabilizing legs are facing the other way and then let it down with the narrow end of the stand between the legs of the hoist?

So can you show me a better way to use these two products? This video was to show the problem you will run into when using these products from harbor freight, and a possible solution, but if you can come up with a better solution without cutting up the engine stand and shop crane I will be happy to give it a try!
