I use a microfiber cloth to clean my cellos...one side to clean strings and fingerboard, the other side for the cello top....so that I don't 'grind' the rosin I've just removed into the varnish. I find one side of MF cloth is rougher looking, so I use that for the string cleaning.....I always pay attention to which side of the cloth I am using at the time.

Cute thumbnail, Maxim. Great info. Is there such a thing as "winter" rosin and "summer" rosin? My Pirastro Olive seemed to not work so well once the weather (and the house) got cooler and drier than it was in summer (warm and humid). Switched to D'addario which helped.

Yes, some cellists like to use a darker rosin during colder and dryer times of the year…

How about using a bit of alcohol on a piece of cloth to remove rosin off the strings in the bowing area? Thank you!

Good question! It depends on an instrument you have. If it has a good quality varnish, it might be affected if you have a drop or two while cleaning the strings. Try covering it and use alcohol cleaner with extra care.

I'm confused. When you said, "Cecilia is just a rosin shaped object", do you you mean it looks like rosin but is not good? You have it listed as premium rosin in your description.
