Awesome review, man! I’ve never fished with planer boards and always wanted to know how it was done. After you put the planer board on and loosened your drag, how far do you then let THAT go out?
@TheOutdoorConquest
Жыл бұрын
Thanks man! It depends on how many I’m running per side but I usually just eyeball it up
How do you adjust how far outside the boat they go? are there different sizes that go further distance to each side? and how do you determine what snap on weight to get. thanks. How deep of water were you fishing to be at 50 ft of line with that weight? thanks!
@TheOutdoorConquest

Once you clip the board on and send it out the more line you set out the further form the boat it goes….so you control that based off line let out. I use 2oz with non divers because it’s what I learned from watching Fishing 411. They actually have an app that gives you all the data you need.
I like the weight u put on

Are these boards still available? I don't see them on cabelas website.
With side of the board we must buy ? I am from Quebec Canada and we fish trout not bigger than 15 inches ?
@TheOutdoorConquest

They didn’t come in different sizes when I made this video. They do have spring adjustments for the flag so you can make it sensitive for smaller fish. I use them for walleye and the smaller ones will still trigger the flag
Just received 3 Left and 3 Right today. I'm wondering if you have tried the stiffer spring for Erie walleye, or if you continue to use the soft spring.
@TheOutdoorConquest
Жыл бұрын
I’ve only used the soft springs. The stiff springs were too much even for Saginaw Bay walleye I found!
@douglemmon6823
Жыл бұрын
@@TheOutdoorConquest I was curious. The Cabelas instructions say to use the heavy spring for crankbaits, but it seemed a bit stiff. I'll give the light springs a go first. I'm assuming you have them set in the 4th or 5th hole.
@TheOutdoorConquest
Жыл бұрын
@@douglemmon6823 yes! Exactly right! It will be a test and tune situation but once you dial them in for what your fishing with your good. I fish floaters with 2oz weights and the light setting works fine.
Great video. So the front clip Doesn't release? Do you have to fight the fish and the board?
@TheOutdoorConquest

Hey thanks Gary! No the front clip doesn’t release but in mu opinion I think having the board stay put helps keep the fish hooked up better also. It kind of acts like a bobber in a way.

How do you determine how much line to let out after the weight is clipped onto the line?
@TheOutdoorConquest

It really depends on the depth of water your fishing and how far down you want to be in the water column.

With the front clip tight on the line how hard is it to reel in a fish ? are you fighting the board as well ?
@TheOutdoorConquest
Жыл бұрын
It’s simple to reel the fish in. It adds some resistance but I feel like the board helps keep the fish hooked up also. I’d rather rig it like this than release the board. Releasing the board can cause issues also

@@todddejardin3578 there is a lot of clips on the market. If I happen to have one fail I’ll be replacing it but I do like the clamp style clips so far. @@Paulybuck thanks for watching! Those are my “drift bags” or “trolling bags”. I use those to slow my boat speed down. I don’t have a small kicker motor so I troll with the big motor. The bags allow me to dial in my trolling speed. Appreciate the question!
