It’s leave on, so you cleanse your face as normal in the morning.

Paulas Choice has several holy grails. This is one of them for me, I always have extras. This goes deep into the pore. I don’t wear a lot of makeup but after double cleansing when I use my toner with a cotton ball my skin seems very clean but then I use the BHA and it takes more gunk out. And it does not dry me out

Tip : wait a few a few minutes (about 15) once applied before applying moisturizer, give the salicylic acid time to soak into the skin

Pro tip: Do not use a cotton pad to apply this, you will end up wasting more product because the cotton ends up soaking up a lot

I naturally have the most oily, shiney, greasy face I’ve ever seen anybody have in my life. I can’t imagine adding on any type of oil to my face. I wash my face and use the liquid bha. Hopefully I’m not doing any damage. But it has been working for me so far

My father is a derm. He sees this all the time with teenage patients not moisturizing. By not moisturizing your skin will overcompensate and produce more oil because it’s so dry. (Unless your skin is being dried medication as that inhibits oil production).

aaah so we should space it out when using this product. I'm new to this PH product and I did notice for a week of daily use, my nose and lip area got irritated for a bit but when I stopped for a while, it went back to normal after using like 2 or 3 days. thanks for the tip!

I switched from the liquid to the gel, because I hated how the liquid got everywhere. I don't think it works quite as well as the liquid though...When I first started on this I used it every day, twice a day, my skin tolerated it well and it didn't irritate me. I don't use it as much now (no more than once a day) because my skin is a lot clearer.

Your skin made me click the like button so fast

The purge is real with this thing if you're coming from a bad skin routine. It will go into your pores and just grab all that junk and bring it upwards. Your face will have a bunch of little red pimples with the white pus-filled tops. They might come with squad too. I remember I had like 10 miniature pimples all clumped together all with a white top on them. Just ride it out. Can last anywhere from 4-8 weeks. Skin care is just like dieting. The best routines focus on long term success.

pRo tIP - use a cotton pad because she said it’s the right way. Which I believe is true. If you don’t use the cotton pad than I feel bad for you cause you’re still doing it wrong. It’s more effective with a cotton pad and you do circular motions.

I have hyper sensitive skin, currently it is winter where I live and my skin has become extremely dehydrated. I have noticed skin flakes, fine lines, dull and uneven complexion, my texture and hyperpigmentation has become worse in the last 2-3 months so I am thinking of using this product but I am relatively new to Chemical exfoliants. Since my skin is quite red and damaged due to the dehydration and other issues, how do you recommend a hyper sensitive gal like me introduces this product to her routine? Currently all I have been doing is cleanser and moisturizer so I don’t further irritate or upset my skin.

I wouldn’t recommend this as it’s best for oily skin. You can use lactic acid or mandelic acid, they are mild and hydrating. You also need to drink at least 2litres of water daily, it’ll help your skin condition… consider eating healthy oils too, e.g oily fish , nuts… and omega 3 supplement to alleviate your dry skin. Use only hydrating non foaming cleanser and hydrating moisturiser.

I actually use the lrp anthelios spf50 (invisible fluid) that she showed in the vid & have exactly your skin type. It's been a month now & I'm in love! It even helps a bit with oil control; & even though I use a bit of moisturiser under it (cos I'm on tretinoin) I don't look like I was waterboarded with the contents of a deep fat frier by the end of the day. Before that I used a korean spf (cosrx aloe soothing suncream), which was a good physical sunscreen but too heavy for my oily skin in the summer cos it's a rich moisturiser as well. I still use it on days though when I'm indoors cos it really does soothe & hydrate my skin. Others I haven't tried but heard good things are the biore (aqua rich & athlizm spf 50) & shiseido ultimates sun protector spf50. Hope this helps!

I use the etude house sunscreen, it’s really good and might help with your problem with breakouts and doesn’t leave a sticky white film like the others. It’s really light and watery and comes in different textures based on your skin type. Another good one is the biore UV aqua rich watery essence sun screen, that one is also very good, hope these help👍

don't use both on the same day it'll be too much and both contain 2% BHA (salicylic acid) Paulas Choice as often as you can tolerate it i.e: a few times a week whereas the ordinary AHA BHA is really once a week if not less (I would suggest once every couple of weeks or less if using other exfoliants). Its a strong treatment and not for daily use at all.

You don't need this many actives in your regimen, it'll only make things worse. Based on my dermatologist's recommended (plus my past 2+yrs experience): 1- Start with only 1 acid product plus the BHA cleanser at most, & apply it like she said: once a week 1st then steadily increase it to 2/3times. Don't use another acid leave-on treatment (bha or aha like lactic acid) while you're already using 1. Also probably get a simple cleanser like the Simple or the cerave foaming cleanser for days when your skin's irritated. If you really want a bha for daily use, I the cosrx aha/bha power liquid is best, but you still have to ease yourself in. The ordinary (TO) salicylic acid mask is better than the 30% aha/bha which ruined my skin. 2-Hydrate & moisturise well! With a good HA serum, BUT if you live in cold/hot, dry weather try snail mucin products (HA can dry you out in dry weather). I love the cosrx snail 96 power essence, or it's jacked up cousin, the advanced snail radiance dual essence which also has a niacinamide , panthenol & other goodies. The cosrx honey glow kit (with propolis ampoule etc) is also AMAZING for general support. You can use them on their own with a moisturiser OR under your bha, & anything with niacinamide especially works well with acids. For a moisturiser simple is best, so I go for the cerave moisturising lotion (the 1 she mentioned is too thick for my oily/combo skin) 4- Later on you can try & introduce a retinol for permanent results; the granactives from The ordinary (TO), or the inkey list retinol are a good start. I then moved to adapalene, & I'm now on tretinoin (careful, retinoids are intense!🥲) 5- Antioxidants like vitamin c are good also. I've sensitive skin so direct L-ascorbic acid's too strong for me. I started with TO's ascorbyl glucoside. Alpha arbutin's also a great ingredient to gradually reduce dark spots/hyperpigmentation & I love the inkey list's alpha arbutin. Now I use the combined L-ascorbic + alpha arbutin from TO. For the past year my daily routine is; *Morning- cleanse (cerave sa OR foaming cleanser) , serum 1 (snail mucin + niacinamide OR dual essence alone OR propolis ampoule), serum 2 (L-ascorbic+alpha arbutin), moisturise (cerave lotion), spf (lrp anthelios). *Night- double cleanse (inkey list oat cleansing balm + foaming cleanser), serum (snail mucin + niacinamide OR dual essence alone), treatment (acid/bha toner OR tretinoin; I use bha 1/2 times weekly, & tretinoin every other day but never both at one!), moisturise (cerave lotion). Gentle but effective is best for longterm results; if you use too much you'll on wreck you skin barrier & cause irritation/hyperpigmentation which is a bitch to get rid of on darker skin. I'm african with oily/combo & acneic skin & a lot of scarring & hyperpigmentation from it. Over the past 2.5 years I've experimented, studied & consulted my derms/medical professors(i'm a medical student interested in deematology). I'm finally happy with how I look, thanks to this regimen!

Due to the nature of this exfoliant, you want to keep things simple on the night you use it to avoid irritation. Then on subsequent nights when you skip This BHA exfoliant, you cleanse - tone - apply your serum and moisturise.

No it will not lighten you, but it helps to exfoliate your skin for a clearer looking skin
