Seoul has excellent public transport, but when you're traveling with big/many luggages, with elderly people or small kids, or in a group of 3 or 4 people, or a combination of either, for shorter distance amounting up to KRW 6,000-10,000 sometimes it is more convenient and almost the same or cheaper (total fare divided by number of people) to take taxi vs bus/subway

If possible, use a public transport, because in Korea it is so good and easy to use, that there is no need to use a taxi :) In many cases it can be faster to use a metro anyway, because no traffic jams :)

If you have more than two big cases be aware most medium taxis have a huge LPG tank in the boot so not much space. If your lucky you might get an electric taxi which has loads of room for luggage.

I just came back from a 3,5 week long trip to Korea (Seoul). The first few days were a bit more complicated than I imagined, but you will get the hang of it. Uber also works fairly well in Seoul. Subway and bus becomes pretty easy after you use it a few times.

I used Kakao T whilst in SK. Was so easy to use. Taxis turn up very quickly.

In the Kakao app, there is a choice for a van or bigger vehicle. I hope that helps.

Can you use the card you get from the airport for buses on these taxis as well?

Your description of Korean taxi drivers is the same as Thailand's taxi drivers. Refusing to go to a destination even though it's only 30 mins away to a metro station, or when the destination is unknown to them (means not within their comfort range), and they don't speak English. I don't know what these taxis are for when they won't go here and won't go there.

Hi general taxi have 2 options medium and large. Can the large one fit 5 persons?

in Kakao T, is there a size option somewhere? we are 5 people in my group, so we can't fit in a regular sized car. since I'm the only one who speaks a bit of Korean and are used to travelling in general, we will have to stay together and not split up into two taxis, so I'm a bit worried about how to find right sized taxis.

I came back two weeks ago after visiting Seoul Korea. I tried to call taxi with Kakao app. But somehow I was not able to get to payment method option. On your video there is pay to the driver option but can you get there without having your credit card information already in your Kakao taxi account? Kakao taxi account said that my foreign credit card usage is limited to bike rental only.

Do taxis take tmoney card for payment?

If you use Kakao T, is it possible to pay for the trip upfront before the taxi turns up? Just trying to avoid the situation when the taxi wants to charge you significantly more than the indicative price on the app.

Unfortunately, you can't because drivers need to use the meter to charge you. To be cautious, keep checking the meter and compare the price on the meter and the app once you arrive. :) If something helps, contact kakao T through the app. Hope this helps!

Can I use Uber app registed with my account here in US?

Hi, I'm from the Netherlands and I'm traveling to Seoul in April. I've tried to make an account for both Naver Maps and Kakao T, but for some reason my Dutch phone number won't recieve any verification code. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Both apps are very important for traveling in the city and I wouldn't know what to do without them

I am in Incheon right now trying to use Kakao T. There is no option to pay the driver. Only options are Kakao T Point or Credit/Debit Card. We do not have a Korean credit card, so we cannot use the app.

Yes, you’ll need Korean phone number. They will call you when they’re picking you up. Also, it needed for the confirmation code when you make an account for KakaoT.

You can still use Kakao T with your current phone number, it worked for me when I went there :)

I don’t think so. Just register an account. Maybe you know Kakao talk (the messenger service most Koreans use) It’s the same account basically. You can use a foreign number there so you should be able to use Kakao Taxi with it too.

Yes, Patty is right ;). Download Kakao Talk while in US and register Kakao account. Then, download Kakao taxi app and log in with that account. :) So Korean number isn't required but you need a data access to use the app. Hope this clarified!

If your card works in Korea, then you can use that card :) My friends use foreign credit cards.

You need a Korean Phone number to use the app.

so, its like Uber or Grab .

1. Not getting option to pay driver. 2. I have to Enterpr cc info but takes me to a k talk app which requires you to have a local number. So uber it is.
