Google Trends is a cool and amazing tool! I was surprised to see, in your example, that vegan diet was trending down and carnivore diet up. The trend graphs show a similar pattern in terms of the peaks and troughs. Great insights here. Thanks 🙏🏼

3:28 while this works for alot of things you have to bare in mind what you are comparing for example most people don't search carnivorse diets as we are carnivores at birth (most people only search vegan or vegetarian or just eat mix and don't care) so the numbers ain't always accurately protrayed

Thanks for the nice explanations Miles. I think you just forgot to explain what "breakout" and "200%" OR "2000%" means in front of the topics. I never understood that. What is more popular, a topic that has the "breakout" label on it, or one that has "2000%"? Had you explained that, this video would easily be an 10/10. Yet, it's a great video. Thanks

Hey Miles am I correct that the trends don’t actually tell search volume numbers, for example 1000 searches last month? I think it’s important to know that even if a search term is going up to 100, it possibly could mean it went from 1 search query last month to 10 this month. Not great numbers to base a business on!

Ya, or go the other way. KWF has a very small trend graph they show in the results but its a 12 mo graph (for seasonality) this can show 5 year trends which I like. But yes, I use both tools together for SEO

How do I see the absolute number of search attempts per region and not the relative (%) one? Why? Because I want to know whether the 100% are i. e. 464738 or only 10 searches of the particular term.

Search for my keyword research vids!!!

I have a question, how to interpret 0 value? The first explanation is that only a few people searching for that therm. However, sinse I have 100, and google trend provides relatively values, should I interperet it as ''in one point there are to many searching, therefore in other days, less people search same term''. Under the first explanation, 0 value correspond to 0 search. In the second explanation, 100 value corespond to a million searches, and 0 to a hundred searching.

I still don't get it! Does Google trends provide you with the most winning products? Or should I get the product to sell and test its trending on Google?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't trends show the "trend" and not the actual number. So if you compare 2 terms, you can only see the trend. Term 1 might be at 2% but have higher search volume than term 2 which as 5%. This will be the case if term 1 has a max volume of 1000 (giving a current search volume of 20) and term 2 has a max volume of 100 (giving a search volume of just 5) The numbers are only relative to their max volume. Did I get this wrong?

With 1 its relative to max volume for that 1. When you put 2 items on compare mode, it sets the relative graph to the highest point for the highest one. This is why the comparison graph can get blown out as shown/mentioned in the video.

Not exactly, because for some folks it's a lifestyle no matter the trend, so for those folks it's always a smart niche. But a pure marketer looking to ride a trend in a niche, it is a sign to keep looking.

I put in sales turnover and it says your search doesn't have enough data to show??? That's one of the biggest problems at companies right not, but I guess company leaders don't care???

Be sure to set the time frame out... I just checked that phrase with 5 years selected and it showed all the data just fine. On the default timing 'today' it showed nothing.
