Yes it is. I am a hobbyist and even though it is expensive, it makes every joint easier and quicker for me. No layout issues, no extra maths or bits to add then rebate and cut on the table saw, just cut pieces to final size and fit. And it’s simple to use and works brilliantly. Others spend tons on a big table saw, some on fancy jigs and expensive planers or thicknessers…I guess you buy what you feel you are going to use a lot and get something good. Everytime I use it, I am glad I have it, and I use it on most projects I make.

I don't have a domino, but think it's worth every penny even for a hobbyist. Mainly because of speed and ease of use. Hobbyists won't have as much free time in the shop as pros, so any time saved is more time that can be spent on the hobby. The only reason I don't have a domino is because I have and use a dowelmax. It's an amazingly well-built and accurate doweling jig. It doesn't have the speed of the domino (though it's certainly not "slow") but it's also about 1/5 the cost. If I didn't have a dowelmax, I'd have a domino for sure.

I would never discourage anyone from buying a Domino If you have the money Imo I kinda think dowels can be as fast if using the dowel pointers pieces I have built ton of things with dowels I just feel that me personally not sure how accurate I am using them and strength Domino and dowels pretty much use the same concept with layout and markings. Also Gtizzly makes a dowel machine similar to the Domino I show and use that in a couple vids but like the Domino it comes with small cutters and imo too wide for frame building. Thanks for watching
