Yea I've done this for years on the ps4. Def great if you don't want to have to download a game again. I keep a 5tb hdd just for this. Hope 4tb nvme gets cheaper down the road

a ps4 has a normal hd so made no differance in terms of performance so this is great idea for a series x. where you able to play games directly from the hd or did you have to copy them over on ps4 just to play them?

You have to sync your progress. Maybe you play a lot offline. Go online regularly and your game save data will be synched and updated on the cloud.

To run X|S optimised games, you need the SSD expansion unfortunately.

Non enhanced games will load from the usb but at the cost of load time an no quick resume

There's a simple method to play enhanced games with expanded storage like this. Leave a liberal amount of internal storage space free, like 100GB on the console drive. Then, simply move the enhanced game from the USB into the internal storage, and then rotate a game that is being played the least into the USB. That way you'll always have a gap of memory in the console drive for rotating games into internal storage.

I bought the Seagate 1TB SSD expansion card for both my Series S and Series X, cost me $238 I haven't opened it yet

I have a similar problem after I formated on pc , I mostly just want to capture longer videos but it says it's too slow and uses it for as a media device only. On PlayStation you can record long videos with out the need for an extra device. A cheap substitute if you want to capture longer videos is remote play on phone and screen recording.

So do the games on the internal hard drive play at 120fps and stuff with all the ssd?

Sure, if it’s a 128GB drive or larger, but it will probably wear out pretty quickly.

Of course you can still use a USB drive. The 219.00 drive is a SSD drive which run and load your games as fast as the internal SSD drive. I thought this video was going to show how to use different SSD other then Microsoft SSD drive. It need a different title

Ya I’m baffled for nearly everything on Xbox I have to watch a KZread video or google it to figure it out. While on PlayStation it’s typically self explanatory.

@@dirtyface986 Yes You can. And with Quick Resume, Load Times much faster, than Extern on the One X. If You install Extern Games and it would not be run with Series Games, You would be ask to install internal to run or extern to save the Game.

128gb? What's even the point for a game drive at this point. 500 is even pushing it these days.

This is ridiculous to have to move games back and forth. I hoped that anything has changed regarding this issue. It’s silly that they force you to use internal SSD even if external SSD potentially could be used. I’m staying with my Xbox one x

Wished Microsoft would stop making gamers pay even more for extra storage because 1TB is now too small. Game size is huge forza horizon 5 is 123 GB so 1TB is just not enough.

finished all my games finally, wasn't bad at all, 4 gb, on y new seagate, dont format it yourself you may mess it up, xbox formatted mine auto, on the X/S, so now i have a total of 6 terabytes.

purchased the seagate hard drive 4 terabyte , didn't realize i was going to have to download over again to hard drive when you move it, drag, time consuming on spectrum slow ass 400 mb download, with 23 to 27 maybe upload, spectrum needs to update to fios, or fiber, or im going to change providers. so i wonder how large of internal xbox micro drive into sd, you can purchase may look at that, but there really high in price, you think they would give us a break since were saving them cloud space. of microsoft space period.
