Simply using the word 'protect' to describe what the underlying layer slider is doing makes it much easier to understand. You're basically asking how much of the underlying layer you want protecting from the above layer. Love it. Thank you.

Hello Charles, Jose from Puerto Rico and new subscriber. This by far has been the best explanation of blend-if I've heard. When you used the word "protect" when describing what this tool does was a AJA moment for me. Other explanations I've watched just didn't click until I saw yours. How did you place the plants above the layer panel?

I believe you are seeing the Navigator window. I'm using the photography workspace. Or you can go up to Widow and choose Navigator.

@Charles Cabrera He was able to select the various plants in the folder without having to close his current layer, you can't do that from the navigator. Or maybe that's possible if the layers are within a folder.

Blake Rudis has to much extra fluff in his tutorials. Piximperfect's Unmesh Dinda , PhotoshopTrainingChannel (PTC) 's Jesus Rameriz and this guy get to the point and IMHO are better at explaining Blend if.
