Great video. What a lot of people don't realize about combatives is that these movements are meant to lessen or neutralize the threat to be able to escape. At the very least, the technique is designed to reset or disrupt the attack, giving you an opportunity to capitalize and/or escape. Fights in the street are dynamic and chaotic, so having some type of answer to the assault is better than not answering at all. Knowing how to address certain dangerous situations takes time, training, and the development of your "fight I.Q."

Another great video! Many people seem to think that “dirty tactics” either don’t work at all or are the answer to everything. Finally we see a proper use of there tools.

Nice video. I hardly ever subscribe to anything, but you got mine. Another obvious takeaway from the video is that one needs to train to be a physically strong version of themselves... You are the guy that my first priority is to escape from.😁

A great informative video . Thanks for myths useful and practical content u make for us , who are far away. Sir , my question is will parallel bar dips effect palm strike , elbow strike and hammer fist? Or should I add parallel dips to my workout if I am following your content on self protection? Is it necessary for street defence or only bench press or push ups are necessary? Thanks 🙏

  • @schoolofselfprotection

I would add the explosive push up! And ball to wall drills for more explosive power! Bench press I would do in a explosive out and slow down fashion

Hard core training there. One guy with bandage fingers, another with leg brace 😳 Seriously though, good advice as usual. Although going to the ground is never a good option on the street, secondary attackers etc plus debris, broken glass etc, that doesn’t mean it will never happen. Be prepared, keep it simple, no messing. Good stuff again 👍

You NEVER wanna be on the ground with someone in a real fight. Other people have friends too and you never know who might decide to join the fight. IF someone does, you are dead when you're on the floor. Best way of dealing with real life fights is to avoid them imho. Trained martial arts for over 20 years and in all honesty.. every fight i got in ended up with minor injuries on my part too, a broken hand, cuts or some serious bruises. Took me a while to learn that the best defense is to be able to simply outrun everyone and to forget my pride.

Ahhhh the “you should escape” advice. It’s funny to me. I just explain that over and over again to people. Escape is always best. But is NOT always available. Simply because of no time/no awareness, blocked escape route, you have somebody with you that is not capable of running(child, elderly person, injured person), maybe you are injured etc..I just explain in the video that I never want to go to the ground and the reasons for them.

I don't understand the point in this comment. He covers exactly what you have said about not wanting to be on the ground, grappling with them, at 2:29 . The avoidance comment is just stating the obvious.

@earlgrey2130 "I took 20 years martial arts to be able to forget my pride and outrun my pregnant wife/children if I have to fight" Maybe if you take 20 more years martial arts you will learn that have nuanced opinions and that one answer doesn't fit something as vast as violence in modern society?

So you are on the ground, the attacker is above you, he has a weapon. What is your advice? Give up and die from fear or train ? In my view, even if you only have a 10% chance it is worth the shot. And why don't You have weapons?
