Imaging living in a climate that doesn't rust stuff so badly that it strips the bolt and thread on the separator tool when you use it to remove your upper control arm... Lucky yanks. Great video sir.

The best tool for ball joint extraction. Each time I use it, the stud explodes like crazy. It was very smooth in this vid!

If you keep the nut on like I did, it doesn't fly away but still sometimes things fly lol
Great video. Gave me the direction on which tool to get for our Odyssey. This tool was a life saver. Popped the ball joint loose in about two minutes. It also worked on the tie rod end of my 07 Odyssey as well. Getting the bearing out of the spindle, well that's another story. It was so rusted in there that the bearing puller/press tool cup that you place on the outside bent the spindle lip as I was trying to press it out. Replacement spindle will be here on Thursday. Hopefully it goes back together much easier than this disassembly has been.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video.

Extraordinary detail ! Super helpful !! I learned lots !!! Thanks mate . 👊🏼
Thanks for the video!
Thanks! That clears up something I was wondering about, that is, should I avoid PB Blaster right on the rubber boot. So the silicone WD40 will be what I use. And spraying it on the tool as well, great idea!
Perfect: No Life Story and no Head Banging Music.
Very good!! Thanks for getting right to it!!
Thank you for posting this
Nice and clean. 👍🏼
thank you for the instruction sir
Good video. Try some thick grease on the puller threads to make them last longer.
Thanks Mr. Ranger
Thank you !!! A lot of other fucking videos just showing off the tool and not putting it to use to demonstrate how it works , thank you very fucking much man only video that shows how its done !
This is new, using an impact socket on a ratchet. Usually it’s people using chrome sockets on impacts lol.

Thank you! This will help me with my car tonight.
Hi. You should do a video showing how to diagnose a bad joint ball And another suggestion: how to remove, clean the starter (and replace its brushes) on a civic. Tks again, man
Nice video, thanks! Why would they put a 24 mm bolt on this? There is really no need in a 24 mm bolt.

So it doesn't shear off or twist
I've been using pickle forks. And they've sucked. They not only destroyed a part I wasn't planning on replacing, but I ended up using my jack and the weight of the car while hammering on the side of the knuckle until it finally came unstuck. But I was too stubborn to use fluid.
@MrRangerZr1

I never use pickle forks for that reason
will this type of separator compromise the rubber boot? I don't need to replace the ball joint but I do need to separate the control arm from the steering knuckle.
@MrRangerZr1

If you're carefully, no.
to put it back on you just have to screw in the top bolt and put the clip back on right?
@MrRangerZr1

Yeah line up the nut and insert the clip
Hi dose this ruin the ball joints or are they still in perfect usable condition ?

This tool works well for Odyssey. Won't work for 2012 Accord because the fork diameter is too small and the fork is a bit too thick to insert in. Any suggested tool for Accord? Honda's 28mm tool is very expensive.
@MrRangerZr1

Yeah accords have the wishbone setup. I don't like hitting suspension components to loosen things but you can try it. Don't hurt yourself. Or go to autoparts store and rent the tool.

@@MrRangerZr1 Right, I never had luck whacking. Honda specifically says not to bang on anything. I ended up getting it off by using a pickle fork but damaged the boot in the process. Learned how to replace ball joint boot as bonus.
nice! can seperated ball joints be reused?
@MrRangerZr1

If the boot is not compromised yes
Thanks for the video. I guess this can also be used in the other ball joint (I think it is the steering arm?) I also happen to have an odyssey. And will pick the tool at AutoZ thanks again.

Applying the pressure to the nut wont hurt the threads?

that's why we just slightly thread on the nut

suddenly my garage door will not close anymore when pressing the button in my honda odyssey. is there a small battery to change in the honda for the overhead buttons? sorry this question is unrelated to your video and extremely stupid i know. any chance its the honda or should i focus on the garage door itself. thank you

Most likely you'll have to replace the overhead assembly. As, Christopher said, the homelink is always hot, no matter what. Is it blinking red? If so, try relearning the garage opener.
Can this be used for a silverado Chevrolet?? Please respond please

Hello! Why did you leave the nut on the screw? I thought you could use the separator without the nut being on the threads.

Whats the point, you see how easy it is with this inexpensive tool. Using a hammer makes a ton of noise, kicks brake dust in the air, takes a toll on your hands, etc.

Honestly, it's what I've done in workshops most my life. Just leave the nut on top loose, strike the side of the hub section where the ball joint slips in, and it'll pop most of the time in a single hit.
@ObscureStuff420

I've been hitting mine with a BFH and using a pickle fork and it won't come loose. Picked one of these up today for 35 bucks and will try it out tommorow. I'm not going to dick around hammering and cursing if a small amount of money will stop the frustration, I'm still saving way more than a professional would charge.
Make sure to keep the nut just at the end of the stud to protect the threads from getting bunged up. Hard to see in video.
