This video and your more recent Boss DS-1 video should be mandatory viewing for young guitar students. Excellent work.
This was a great video and hammered back into me that I shouldn’t feel bad about an always on pedal. It’s okay to dial in your amp sound with a pedal as well. And the demos in your video for the TS were great. Good work here one of the better TS videos on YT

Thanks for the tips and insights!! Learned something new 👍
That was awesome Jack, I was considering a second tube screamer so you have sealed the deal!!
SRV stacked his ts i think, great info. Tks for the vids

People forget for years before he plugged straight into a cranked amp and that most of the gain is coming from the amp and NOT the pedals! They’re merely there as clean boosts.
TS-9 and Boss Blues Driver, both on my pedalboard for ever, no boutique pedals for me, these two are still the best, good video dude, ;)

Hey guys I don't know much about amps When we put the od in front of the amp It drives always the clean channel? Or it drives an already drive amp? Sorry f m English
I still have and use a Digitech Bad Monkey from when I started playing guitar. It was the first pedal I ever bought, based on a friends recommendation. Sometimes I think about selling it and buying a TS9 but eventually change my mind. I like running it by itself into my Princeton set to just breaking up. If I want heavier tones I'll stack it into a Rat 🐀 with the Princeton clean. It sounds great and tightens the Rat up.
I have the Ibanez 15 watt Tube Screamer amp with 2 -12" cabinets. I use the Boss "Blues Driver" pedal to juice up the sound a little more but the amp alone has a great overdrive tone already!
Greates Guitars, Greates OD's, best guitar play, THE BEST TEST;)) THANK YOU
I've been stacking ts9 into bd2 with my friends 76 twin reverb lately. Low practice volumes, super dynamic with my Esquire.
SRV did stacking Tube Screamers ;-) great video, thank you

I didn’t know that. I do know that when you stack overdrives it gives a great complex sound
Yes. That Tube Screamer face at 11:42. 👍
Great playing Jack. I have enjoyed loads of music with tube screamer in it for sure, but I still don't want one myself.
Hi Jack, these great overdrives have been guessed since their beginnings, but to them should be added the MXR GT-OD, the BOSS "Blues driver" and also the cheaper, but very good TC electronic "Cinders"... :-) Many greetings and congratulations for everything.
Trey Anastasio does (did) with a Mesa Boogie. I don’t remember which Mesa Boogie, but I would bet it is (was) one of the early Mach’s.
For me, with a BB preamp at one end and a single band parametric EQ pedal that also provides an optional 10db of clean boost, at the other end.
I'm using a Fender GTX100 with its onboard tube screamer modeling effec pedal. I gain stack a Klon clone and like to use it with the Deluxe Reverb amp model and a strat. I get pretty good tones with it.
Nice vid. I enjoyed the point that it’s a social overdrive. I’m a SD-1 user (basically Boss’ TS, as you know) and a klone fan (Emerson Goldenface currently, but I’ve had many over the years) and I use both of those pedals/circuits in many of the ways you describe. They’re usually feeding another source of gain, whether that’s a more neutral overdrive further down the signal path or the amps gain. I love running my SD-1 or my Goldenface into my Boss OD-3, there’s a lot of superb tones to be had that way. Have you ever tried an OD-3? I know you’re a BD-2 fan (at least the Keeley Super Phat Mod version), and I really think if you enjoyed that style of drive the OD-3 would be up your alley.
SRV was the only player I know who stacked the TS. The interesting thing is it works better IMO when both pedals are set to zero gain and full volume boost. I’ve always loved the mid punch the Screamer gives that makes anything you play audibly pleasant at all volumes and at any gain stage of your amp. It’s just a great versatile pedal. Thankfully I have a modeler so I can sensibly put up to 4 of them in my effects chain without causing any issues!
My favourite TS stackings: TS into BD-2, and TS into OCD.
that Delta King 12 is a real nice little amp. would be great to hear some more pedals through it. try an acoustic through it. great stuff! love your channel. thanks for sharing 👍🙂👍
enjoyed this video , lots of great information on employing this great circuit . stellar playing as always and i also really enjoyed your chicago stroy . next time you are here look me up and we will grab a pizza

@@JackFossett Thanks for asking 😎👍 Have always had tube amps, but tubes and service wasn't cutting it anymore. Went with Fender TMDR, but am worried about the fact tha it's cheaper to buy a new TMDR than to possibly fix 2 days after warranty runs out. Hurts my sensibilities. Pedals always seem to last forever. Therefore, tried UA's Dream... My chase for tone, mods, cabs, artist settings and presets are done. Actually plugged into the normal channel of the TMDR to a/b the two😉😎👍 Each is it's own take on a DR, but the Dream with its extras and tones shines through. Great feel. Very pleased with the results 😉 Makes my pedalboard the heaviest and largest part of my rig.😎👍 You might want to check it out when you get the time, and let us know what you think? Hope this helps you in some say😎👍❤🖖
Thurston Moore sonic youth, used several Tube screamers I think 🤔
Trey Anastasio stacks Tube Screamers. I stack my 808 with Xotic effects BB. I will try dialing the tone knob down on the 808 its been set at 1 o'clock for 10 years.
@JackFossett
2 жыл бұрын
If you stack them, you may not have to turn the tone back too much depending on the order and the way you run each. I actually had the TS9 tone set a little low in this video when I was stacking them, it could have stood to be brightened up a bit
I love my OD808 but I want to buy a Boss OD-3 and stack the two. Should sound insane.
I love Tube Scresmers. You don’t have to spend $500. If you go buy a stock current Ibanez TS9, they’re as good as any production year, right now. Same goes for the 808.
I had a Maxon OD-808, an original vintage one. I don't remember why I sold it one day but I regret it. I bought the Reissue but I didn't like it one bit. I still haven't been able to find an old original one. It's my favorite of the 3.

The OD-808 re-issue is actually a TS-10 circuit according to Analog Mike. The OD-9 is the only re-issue that's accurate to original build (TS-9).
Hey man, great content btw. Anyhoo, I'm new to the pedal platform thing, I'd love to hear ur input. I'm running a v40 duchess which doesn't break up much, so I use a cheap klon clone for stage one gain and some breakup( it's a 40$ wish clone that sounds pretty dang good) and I have a ts9 after it for lead boosting. I feel like I'm on the right track but rolling off volume with the clone just doesn't seem to cut it. It just seems to lose tone hard-core. Should I try a better clone? The centavo seems like a good choice, I really like the clone circuit and I enjoy what the ts9 does, but something isn't right. Should I try a blues breaker? Prince of tone ? Tumnus? Idk I need direction, pls help😡
Srv stacked ts8's with 9s
TS9 is always on at low settings - when i play a solo i push the TS808 on - so they are both on. That in combination with a compressor is ideal for me. And sometimes i ran 2 tube screamers and an boss super overdrive at the same time :-)

Just got a second hand behringer TS, if the level is too low the guitar gets quieter when pedal is enagaged. Normal or nah? I have no reference point :(
Rich Williams of Kansas uses 2 tube screamers I think.

Do you want to run the pedal through the front of the amp or through the fx loop in the back?

Dirt or distorted through front /delays and reverbs and such through back
I run a crybaby, to a ibanez ts9, to a boss ds1 ran through a Marshall jcm2000, I've noticed with the ts9 it causes my Amp to tweet (literally sounds like a little bird tweeting away) anyone know what that's about? Could it be a grounding issue? I. Not super tech savvy and I've never opened the pedal up to look.
Four hours and no one mentioned that Stevie Ray Vaughan was the one stacking Tube Screamers??
Do you know Dave Bullard?
Jack ... somehow I strongly feel you would have been great in a Friday the 13th Movies series....
If you had a Blues Junior with a Cannabis Rex that you loved, would you bother getting a delta king 12? I do like Supro, I have a head, but was thinking about a small-ish Supro combo.... Thanks Jack

The best tone you can get from any pedal is to mess with it until you get the sound that YOU like and leave it at that, try them in store and stop watching these vid’s because you don’t get the pure sound in the room.

I find all ts sounding so bad and unatural as an overdrive for chords. Strange hype. The only domain where it shine, it for singing solo at low dist/vol on the pedal.
