Thanks, just ordered from Amazon now $72 because of your review. Like you, no need for streaming; just want a blu-ray player to go with my 1080p system. I'm 72 and 'a little slow' to upgrade (still use a flip phone). I'm glad you referred to it as a DVD/blu-ray unit I was never sure you could play DVDs on a blu-ray machine. BTW I always buy Sony units.

I didn't hear you mention it in your review...is your TV 1080p, 4K or 8K? How does the DVD up-scaling look? I'm torn between getting this model and the BDP-6700 (which has 4K up-scaling).

  • @SumukhComedy

1080p. So, unfortunately, if you're looking for 4K upscaling, I can't speak to that with this model. But I've found myself satisfied with it visually for both Blu-Ray and DVD on 1080p.

I wish blu ray players all had color controls in the menu, as it's not easy to alter them on the monitor I'm connected to.

I don't know the answer to that unfortunately. It depends on the universal remote and its ability to be compatible with Sony and Blu-Ray players. Thanks for watching.

I actually have a weird question. When you press play, or when you navigate through a dvd menu, does a play/pause icon keep popping up at the bottom left, like the PlayStation DVD players do ? I don't know if you see what I'm talking about

Only one time was it making a lot of noise and I think it's because the front of the player was positioned beyond the ledge of the TV stand you see here in this video. So far, in the 6 months or so of owning it, as long as the player is placed fully on the stand, it's been quiet. Thanks for watching!

It is easy to set up. There is an option to put an Ethernet cord in. As I mentioned in the video, I actually do not connect the Internet to the device. I solely use it for playing DVDs and Blu-Rays so I cannot speak to that. But, from what I've gathered through the Internet reviews, the issues seem to come from WiFi connection with apps so there may be issues with buffering. Thanks for watching!

So I’m wonder why Sony has 2 models blue-ray players and maybe one came out before and one is the newer model?

I do not use this to play anything from a USB flash drive. However, I tested it out based off your question and a .MOV file from a USB did not work for me -- the audio was there but not the video. .JPG photos could be seen from the same flash drive. So, I would suggest trying to find out which files are compatible with this device with the type of files you are trying to play from your flash drive. Thanks for watching!
