Thank you! You explained it really well! My husband died a year and a half ago and he had just got this drill press for me so I could complete a project. I'm converting an a acoustic baby grand piano to a digital one and there are several pieces I need to create that need holes placed accurately. So my husband bought the drill press and we thought he would be here to help me learn how to use it, but sadly he was diagnosed with liver cancer and was gone in 8 months. I haven't touched the piano until now. So, thank you for being so thorough and explaining things so well. I feel confident that I will able to use my drill press now and hopefully finish my piano.
Nice video. In general, it is more safe if the workpiece is sticking out to the left. If the drill bits suddenly jams or breaks, the rotating force is gonna try to turn the whole workpiece clockwise. If it's on your right, it is more likely to hit you. That applies more when not using clamps.

Yes. Your handle is on the right, too, so even if you're left-handed, you're more likely to have that arm in the way versus the left.
Thanks so much! In class I have to take a test tomorrow and the teacher grades us on how we use the drill press. Now I’m not confused.

HouseImprovements Thanks!
I've done lot's of rough carpentry, but I've decided to start doing some finish carpentry. I've never used a drill press... this was a good basic intro to the tool, especially belt/tension change for speed adjustment.
I really like you video because why you explain easy to understand. thanks
Great video! Thanks for the clear and specific instructions and explanation
I'm adding a drill press to my tool set and wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything I really needed to consider. Nope - pretty straightforward! Thanks!
simple yet well explained :) thanks for the video!!
Your videos always helpful. Stright to the point.
Thank you for this amazing video.
Nice Job!! Good advice. I learned something.
Thanks! Gonna go use one now!!
Great video Shannon.

This was very much appreciated
The one thing that would help me is a demonstration how to adjustment for depth; you pointed it out but a demo could be helfpful. Thank you for posting the how-to as I am pondering a press for myself.
Thanks for the video.
Great video.
Great Video! Perhaps this tiny drill press only has one chuck-key-hole? I usually tighten the chuck with the key in more than just one of the three holes, if available. i.e. tighten with the key in one hole, then move to a second hole and tighten again. Helps make even tension around the drill bit. Cheers!
Love this guy, I always watch his videos when they pop up in my search results.
Thank you !
Great tips... thanks!!
I like your video about drill press because I was thinking should I get a medium or higher end drill press, going thru your video, guess a medium size will be good enough, thanks for the video.
Great video! Thank you so much. Hero!
I don't need a drill press, I only do a project like once a year. But I don't know if it's because of my anxiety or autism but I always ran away from screaming loud power tools when I was young. Even quiet ones. But now a days it's just noise and keeping it steady that makes me anxious about drills. So I'm going to pick one off marketplace, just a short one for the odd project. Silence of the motor is pretty much my buying factor
Thank you. Never thought to use as sacrificial on a drill press. Common sense is a great thing.😊
Thank you very much, that was really helpful :)
Pretty informational
Who else is about to get started with a p80 build
nice job
You can even use router bits on the drill press. two chapters in my drill press book about routing and shaping wood on the drill press.

Awesome
Very helpful! I am building a small cabin and your videos are helping me do things properly.
I just assembled mine and it was so elegant when it did that hole in the piece of wood. I look forward to using mine.
Interesting videos as always !
I always appreciate your videos. thank you. great job
Great drill press and video. Thanks for posting!
U should make a video on how to install a door closer
TY my hubby moved his drill press out for me to use on some decorative brackets but had no time before going to work to show me how to use it..lol.. thanks for this info!
I want to buy a drill press. The size is similar to the one in video or maybe smaller. I have a feeling that my drill bits won't fit inside. Looks like the diameter of my drill bit is bigger. What are some workarounds to be able to use bigger drill bits on small drill press?
Router bits work, too, but don't expect miracles!
Having lost some skin off my knuckles (for the 3rd time), I decided maybe it's time to ask the KZreads. Need to mount my metal ships before trying to drill them. Also need to use a hole punch. 40 years since metalwork classes - re-learning in blood!

Please, how did you attach that piece of wood to the iron base ?? I’m making candle holders, and I’m having hard time trying to hold the piece of wood when using the Forstner bit to make the hole for the tea candle. Thanks so much !!

My drill press metal table has holes/slots in it. I just used wood screws with washers drilled in from the under side.
Good instructional video. Thanks!
That's gotta be the cutest little drill press ever invented. :-P

hah - I just (like, literally in the last hour) bought home one that was my fathers, so found it kinda amusing that he has the make/model taped up - because it's exactly the same one I just took out of the car :D

Forgot about calibrating straight cut with 90° Triangle?
Besides productivity, would there be any disadvantage to leaving it on its lowest speed all the time?

A joke of a machine, using a spade bit in a press, suggesting boring metal at 1500RPM, and zero relevant information. This is a terrible video.
So how did you screw the wood to the metal plate? I just bought a drill press and thought I would use bolts ...don t have any holes other than for the bit in the plate ..just long slashes in the metal platform ....clamping smaller pieces to drill is going to be a challenge ....
@HouseImprovements

Large washer on a wood screw, screw up through slashes in metal plate into the wood. Dirty and simple! If you want a cleaner look you can use carriage head bolts through the plywood top and into the slashes where you can use washers and nuts to secure.

@@HouseImprovements super ...thanks ! Don t need clean ...will buy a used drill press vise tomorrow for $10 too ...
when and why would one adjust the belt to increase or decrease the RPM?
@affromma

general rule ... harder materials, slower; bigger bits, slower; duller bits, slower; woods prone to burning, slower.
What is the name of this drill press?
All i really use my drillpriss for is cabinets
What can you do with a drill press that you can't do with a regular drill?

Drill press gives you better control for particular angles or depth, compared to a regular drill

Mario Matejka kinda like a mitre saw compared to a circular saw. can I do it with either? yes. is it easier to reproduce accurate results time after time with a drill press or mitre saw? also yes
Correction, a 'sacrificial board'.
You covered the name. Why ?
is that an older ryobi?
