I agree. The end result does not look finished. A piece of denim with a bit of stretch in a matching shade as the jeans attached to the patch of elastic would look much better. Another way is to place the patch in the pocket area and you can use a contrasting fabric, like a ditty floral to sweeten the deal.

I think the contrasting material was for instructional reasons. Of course, we would use a matching color IRL.

So clever, matching patch is just up to owner. This demonstrates the solving of a common problem. Awesome

Для беременных замечательный вариант, чтобы не покупать специальные вещи . А если джинсы очень дорогие и любимые , то подойдёт для всех. Просто носить их с вещами , прикрывающими резинку. А для осени и зимы вообще идеально- мы все- равно носим свитера и куртки. И вообще, продление жизни вещей- это забота о природе. Ставлю лайк

So I've tried this method. I just set the piece of elastic in the space I cut out and used a zig zag stitch to sew it in flat. It definitely made the jeans more comfortable, but not by as much as the video suggests. Plus, my issue is a big tummy, so i think I need a way of adding to the front waist.

I agree, this is not how *I* would be willing to alter my clothes, but this could help someone on a very tight budget (ie, homemade maternity clothes) I was hoping this would be a more elegant solution.

It's OK if you don't tuck in your tops. I would use a matching elastic or maybe the stretch stretch rib fabric used for cuffs. You could also insert a wedge of matching fabric

You could potentially sew the middle belt loop back on and I think that would help the overall look.

Not only does the back look ugly and altered, it was way too much work. I just use the Perfect fit buttons to tighten or loosen jeans or pants. No sewing involved. By the time this lady finished this project I could've went to the local thrift store and found cheap replacements in a bigger size. Now her jeans are ruined and can't be fixed if she loses weight. Perfect Fit buttons solve all these problems!

She gave a general idea of how to make this adjustment. You can make small additions on either side as well using colors that match. Be creative and hide adjustments even more creatively!!! So, don't down her suggestions... Just build on them in a way that appeals to what you like!! @miriaml.150 @heidiann2435 and others!!

OMG I wish I had seen this years ago. I bought a bunch of skirts for my daughter and had to resize all of them and this would’ve been way easier than how I did it.

The horizontal folds/creases indicate the fabric circumference is too small for the body circumference in that area.

I prefer to put 1" non-roll elastic in the back waist. Starting at the belt loop on one side and ending at the belt loop on the other side. No gaps!
