HOW TO upgrade the rear wheel of a 1981 XV750 CAFE RACER. Lots of things went WRONG.

Hey! Im finally back!
Its been months i know, but im back now and ive got some ideas for future content for the channel.
In this video i finally get around to upgrading my rear wheel of my 1981 XV750 turned 1000cc.
Im an idiot and didnt even realise the rim size was different. So when it came time to actually make things happen, i realised i needed alot more stuff.
Below is a short list of all the things you will need for this conversion for your Gen 1 Virago.
*Gen 2 Rim
*Gen 2 Brake drum
*Gen 2 Axle
*New Tyre 140/90/15

Thanks mate! It’s a k&N I got off eBay. Had to sacrifice the back section stock airbox to allow it to fit and machined some small spacers. Works brilliantly,
Since it is not an English-speaking country, there are parts that I do not understand. If I replace the wheel, will it stay centered?Doesn't that matter?

Yeah the wheel will be in the same spot.
You could also use a XJ700 rear wheel, which has the same size as the original xv750 wheel

thats handy to know. the gen 2 virago rims are everywhere so i figured it was the easiest option.
I enjoy your videos, but not the loud music.

Cheers for The feedback. Music is abit of a pain anyway. Always seem to get copyright.
If you intend to use a 140 tyre you have to take the diff off too You can machine the brake cover to get the required thread

Yeah I just slid it out abit and boom. Sorted. Yeah I had thoughts about turning down the shoulder of the axle on my lathe but a $20 axle was easier haha

@@mattfranco8715 I used a wood router and normal timber bits for the aluminum cover, the jig was a couple bits of box section

I’ve been following your lead Matt. Just drove 6hrs round trip to bring home an ‘85 vx1000 to do this rear wheel conversion and engine transplant into my ‘81 xv750. I’ve heard a 150 tire will fit. Why did u go with a 140? Great video.
Matt, did you convert this 81' XV750 to single carb VM34 Mikuni?
