Thanks for the informatiom i have been struggling trying to update my software from garmin express and it gets about half way through and then shows error but your update worked like a charm. thanks again I'm one of those senior adults that did not grow up with a computer

Ive been watching your videos for some time now and really have got alot from them. I have a 3 yr old 93sv and ive decided to update it..questions..mine has a micro SD in it now. Do i use it or get a new one and save that..? Also ive read you must power up th black box during updating. Do i need to disable sonar? Was told not good to run out of water..thanks from e tex

great video! I am very new to this and have a question for you...I recently bought a new 2022 boat and it has twin Garmin UHD 93SV units version 14.3 US Lakes but i will be going off the west coast of Florida. I do have the BlueChart G3 map for all us and western canada. My question is do I update the units first to the most up to date version and then insert the G3 maps or vice versa? Also do i update each unit individually or can I assume they are connected together and will update together if i just do 1 of them.

It’s time for an update. If they are both networked together and powered up they will update one right after the other bud.

@@The_Garmin_Guru so I can do like your video and update the micro SD card to just get the latest version for the units and then put the G3 Blue chart SD card in to have the maps? The SD card used for the update is removed afte the updat or does it stay in the chart plotter? One with the update card and one with the map card?

So I have two 122SV's (Version 13.20) and then one 126SV (Version 17.10). Based on your tutorial it appears the software download would be the same for all three. Once I download my SD card, I can update all three in one shot without having to download the update on the SD card 3 times, correct? That being said I believe my 122SV's are linked, so they may both download at the same time. For Active Cast and Livescope, do those require updates as well? Sorry for all the questions, new to Garmin. Thank you sir!

Yes you can use the same card to update all with the same card. With the ones that are linked as long as both are powered up it will update both at the same time. As long as the black box is powered up and connected up it will update also

I have a 74sv and trying to add lakevu g3 so I can see freshwater so I just bought a micro sd lakevu from garmin. Do I need to do this to the mircro sd card before adding it into my 74sv?

Enjoying your video. And im looking at my format. It only has exfat. No fat32. Is that ok. Appreciate all your help

It had to be fat32 for the fishfinder to recognize it. Most pc have that option.

Great video! Quick technical question - my 94SV that I just bought and installed recently is extremely laggy, slow, and pixelated when zooming navigation from one area to another. Like 15-30 seconds to render the new location. All firmware and chart updates are current. Navionics on my phone was FAR more snappy and responsive. Any ideas? Garmin support was, well, unsupportive. 🤷‍♂

That’s strange because there support is usually top notch. But the 94 has a single processor and if you have lots of data loaded it will slow down unfortunately. Gpsmap series are much faster

Will it erase all data on the card currently in my unit if I use that same card? Or do I have to get a new card?

Have you looked at this process lately? I just followed along and whenever I select download under Echomap page it goes back to the original screen at 3:14 in your video. I ma trying to get from 19.20 to 20.00 on my 106SV and from 2.57 to 2.58 on my GLS10 and my Active captain and Garmin Express is not showing either upgrade available? Hoping you see this comment and have some insight. I have done multiple upgrades over the years and have never had this issue. Thanks!

Couple questions. I bought my 93sv from someone who never updated it. It’s at version 16.10. I also have the Panoptix system and am unsure what software is on the black box. My questions: do I still need to format the sd card if it is a blank, brand new out of the box SD card? 2, do I leave my black box connected via Ethernet hub during the update or do I disconnect it?

When you update to the new version it will update your black box also to the current version. Leave it connected and it will update everything.

Yes sir it’s within the update for the unit. As long as the black box has power and is connected to the unit it will update also

Is this the latest software update or just update on mapping? I just did the software 2 days ago and am wondering if this was part of the update of if it is a separate update for maps. If this was for both then I just leave the SD card in and maps are updated?

I would erase it. The old update will still be on your computer if you feel the need to go backwards

Any brand 16gb will do. Always format to fat32

Just a heads up- the process for downloading and putting the files on the SD card has changed slightly. The download is no longer the wizard that copies the files for you. It's a ZIP file that you have to extract yourself and manually copy the "Garmin" folder to the SD card. There's more detailed instructions on the download page.

having a problem after the purchase of used boat with Garmin Live Scope. It keeps saying registered to another person. Have Active Captain thru my apple phone. yet nothing will bluetooth. have a SD card in the 93. Any help or how to call someone in walking thru the steps. thanks.

You’ll have to get the previous owner to delete it from their active Captain if that’s not possible then you’ll have to call Garmin.

When turning unit on to do the update should we turn off the transducer because it’s not in water?

No it’s not gonna hurt it for that short amount of time.

I got to the point of extracting the info , but mine didn’t show the downloading the extracting like yours did, and I never saw the Wizard . Any ideas where I could have gone wrong?

It’s real glitchy. Most everyone that went back and reinstalled with a card reported better quality images

I'm new to live scope, I have 1022 gps maps. I did not update the new version, but my question is can I download to a card navionics US maps?

I’m assuming you meant Garmin. If you format it then it will erase it. Turn on your unit and insert it. Follow the onscreen instructions

If you have 2 units that are not linked can you use the same card two update both units

I'm trying to upload the newest software updates of my ECHOMAP 74cv using Garmin Express. I put my Garmin SD card in my computer and open Express. I get a warning that says \"Do not use Garmin Map Card. This process will reformat the card and erase all of it's current data." Do I need to get a new blank SD card and run the update onto that and then upload it into my GPS? Sorry man, I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack when it comes to this stuff.

I would def get a new card if you didn’t want to lose the data on your card just for safety sake.

My laptop computer must be setup different. The wizard doesn’t pop up. I’ve manually downloaded and followed the directions and when I insert the sd card the unit doesn’t show any updates on tue card.

I loaded the Garmin express app to my computer then take a blank card plug into your unit plug it into the computer then open express and hit add a device it will transfer your unit into then when there’s a update it will show it plug in a blank card upload quick and easier for me instead of stepping through Garmin’s page.

Usually if that happens it’s downloaded onto the card properly.

I didn’t see anything about this here…. And some people have separate/disconnected power to there black box… So when updating off water in your garage, etc., Garmin told me to make sure black box has power and is connected to your display unit, transducer connection is not necessary for update…. From Garmin Support. ??

@@The_Garmin_Guru I could never get the chartplotter to work but I bought the 93sv that was supposed to come pre installed. So after a year of mess around with it, I bought a Garmin maps SD card thinking well maybe this will work. Still doesn't. I got a friend that's supposed to take a look at it and then I was going to call Garmin support.
