For people who get 2 options on their Mac, select the gear icon then at the op and select utilities then startup and security utility and the it’ll match the rest of the video.

We need an update video

Very helpful video. On the latest Mac OS, the security steps are a bit different from what is shown but I was able to find similar options, just had to find an extra dropdown menu after the press and hold reboot. It did lead me to some menus I wasn’t expecting “restore from backup” etc. might be work adding a small update for that section.

Oh gosh, that was a bit ago. I think I had to explore the drop down menus in the upper left part of the screen to find similar options.

is anyone having the issue that the firmware refuses to open?

I’m gettin a different drop down menu in recovery mode smh mines showing “restore from Time Machine, reinstall macOS, safari, disk utility” please help

One of the options at the top left will give you the security option. Select it and then all the steps will be as in the video.

Thanks for the info, as a black creator living in Russia 🇷🇺 I often lack folks to discuss such head arches. My Sony 6600 has been having problems to connect with obs . Could it be because I haven’t update the firmware yet?

I have an a7iii that is long overdue for a firmware update because I forgot to do it while my old Mac was still supported by Apple. I just upgraded to a new Mac with an M2 pro chip and I am scratching my head at the Ventura interface.

@@robertgarcia7761I have read photographers posts saying that the new lenses won’t focus as well without it, and I’ve been having trouble with this so over here pulling my hair out trying to update 🤞

I have two M1 Macs and on BOTH Macs neither recognizes the camera? When clicking on the USB Connection on the camera it states that it's "not available". No option for "Mass storage". "This operation or setting not available as follows. (Then it says PC Remote in grey and "on" in white). I've completed these steps on both Macs and neither are recognizing the camera. I can see that the Mac sees the camera in the USB controller.. But the two simply will not connect? Ideas???

Okay, wow.. Had to go into "Network Settings" and turn OFF PC connection. Then it opened up the USB options...

I think i'll just borrow someone's window . or use the windows at the workplace to update my lenses. the body was easy . copy firmware updates to sd card and do it from there

Thanks much for this explanation - very thorough and helpful! However, what a load of stinking crap Sony has visited on its Mac-based customers! Every other major camera manufacturer simply reads the new firmware from an SD card...not this complex nonsense caused by Sony. What could they be thinking? They need to join the 21st Century. We have decided not to pull the trigger on a new Sony A7RV because of this arcane nonsense and we're looking at other brands.

I did discover that both the A7RIV and A7RV have SD card-based firmware updates...baby steps for Sony! Now fix the issue with older camera bodies, please.

you talk to much, you have more views the shorter your videos, talk less, now i have to go to another persons video that tells me the same thing in 3 mins
