I admit I also tried this when I locked my keys in my car at 10pm in the middle of nowhere. I didn’t know if a locksmith would answer a call that late or probably charge a fortune bc nearest one was 39 miles . Called my bf at home, he pushed the other key . I tried holding phone near it, tried it on speaker phone . Even got him to record it when he pushed it and sent it to me and played back the recording. I tried it in video mode on camera, tried it on voice memo audio recording (in case that recorded in different frequencies). It didn’t work in any of those ways . I even switched my phone off digital 5g to analog to see if that was the issue and then retried all previous ways . This was a 2006 Honda , not a keyless fob driving car with a push button ignition , it had a key with buttons on it ) Broke down and called a locksmith who wanted 300 bucks . Called a wrecker service who said they can no longer do unlocks due to possible damage to the door. Auto store didn’t sell slim Jim’s anymore . Lastly the wrecker only charged me 50 to tow it home and let me ride with him .. I feel stupid I ever believed that rumor and can’t even remember where I heard it . Maybe it worked 20 yrs ago when phones and cars were less sophisticated-idk .

Using your mobile to record the sound of the chirp from your keys works as well. Just make sure you save the sound file under something obscure that no one will check.

except the fact we don't actually see him put the cars key remote in the cameras view when he is supposedly using the phone to unlock the door!! my thought is that while he is "using the phone to unlock the door" he is actually pressing the unlock button on the car key remote in his left hand at the same time so it looks like his phone is unlocking it!!

Some phones have apps you can use to operate your car but as far as I know you have to have onstar. But I have never heard of a mobile phone that can pick up, record and then transmit the radio frequency code that is transmitted by a key fob. So I am going to call bollocks on this video.

i just tried this, and my truck not only unlocked, it started, then opened the drivers door, and moved the seat back, adjusted the steering wheel, and the mirrors. But it turned on the radio to some japanese talk show and it wouldnt turn off! someone have a fix for this?
