Not really. You didnt smash the $200 window. But def warped or broke the regulator, plus the thin metal track the window slides on costing $500- $1000 to replace. In most cases, better to just call a locksmith for $50. The car will be fine running the half hour it takes for them to come out.

I love bright side so much

I keep a bottle of window shield solution by my front door in the winter. I take it with me when I go and remove the snow. Spray on solution for the icy window and I never had to scrape

I buy the wiper fluid for winter. It's easy. Just hit the button to spray it and turn on the wipers. Comes straight off

I just use a screwdriver to hold the door open and a hanger to press the unlock button

In a rear wheel drive car , if you’re stuck and one wheel is spinning but not the other, engage your handbrake a couple of clicks then try again .

The ac removes fog on the inside of the windshield, that's why when you push the button with the window and arrows, you can hear the ac compressor cycling. Without heat, you aren't going to melt ice on the outside.

also a great winter life saver that can save your life if stuck and stranded barricade the vehicle so that the heat only stays in the front of car with anything you can find mats rugs blanks ect this can extend your survivability if done right

I locked myself out of my truck decades ago. At $35 a pop to have a mobile locksmith open the door and having to do that twice I now carry an extra set of keys in my wallet.

Sooooo, I'm gonna lock my key's in my car, but I'm gonna have a roll of duct tape in my pocket, interesting. LOL

Those chickens on my car are really generating a lot of laughing. It is a little annoying, but I have not hit anything since using them. Great idea. I get two different kinds as they make different sounds, then I can tell if something is too close in the front or back.

Cheap tire pumps won't pump up cold tires. If you're up North make sure you get a strong enough tire pump to pump up cold tires

WD-40 was invented to keep airplane wings from freezing. Look it up. I get cooking spray may be handy, but the WD-40 will last much longer. Don't use on windshields, I obviously, but the door seals will love its conditioning properties. I'm glad I don't live where it freezes. We get frost, but no serious weather like that! My goodness you folks up north must have to really leave early for work or school between the frosty windshield, doors getting stuck, and icy roads you have to drive on.

I always carry a full roll of duct tape and rubber chickens in my pockets 😉

Doesn't pulling the window down with force break anything? Like the motor in the door?

It may gave worked with the old crank handles. I haven’t seen any motorized windows that budge.

I am an old geezer and sometimes forget where my car was in the parking lot. I usually find it by pressing on the alarm button on the FOB. True.

I always kept a door key in my wallet Actually had to use it once Was worth it

My car won't let me lock my keys inside unless I leave them on the seat but in the ignition was my main thing but if my keys are still in the ignition and I got to lock my door it will unlock it

Does dis work with power windows too ?

car batteries only get damaged in the cold when they are discharged, the cold does not affect your battery other than that

The track and regulator are very thin and yes, probably get damaged. $500 to $1000 to replace. If I only had 2 options, break the window or pull it down .. Id break the window for $200.

Alot of people don't know that they can just ask Google where their car is and it will take them right to it. Of course that's if the Google on their phone has already been tracking them. If so then just simply ask it where your car is and it knows. It also knows whether you are in your car or a different car based on the GPS location of the very first vehicle it ever tracked after it being set up via phone and probably of course if that same vehicle is used multiple times after it being set up via phone.

The only problem I have with leave my wiper blades up during the Winter ❄️🥶 so they don't freeze too the windshield... Is they have actually been frozen upright an if you have someone help you warm up your vehicle they go too put down the wipers an they have actually broken the whole wiper arm!!!

Professional mechanics advise people NOT to leave their windshield wipers up off the windshield in cold weather. My neighbors have and now they are going to have to replace not only the wipers themselves but the arms as well because of severe warping.

Agreed! That spring is there to allow us to clean the glass under it. Leaving the blades up exposed to wind and sun has never made sense to me.I have been driving in Northern winters for54 years.

I leave them up every time we get freezing rain (I live in Mississippi) and never have had issues with my wipers. You leave them down and they will accumulate rain and be covered in thick ice the next morning and it can take hours to de-thaw otherwise

You'll ruin the power window motor if you pull your window down. Replacing the motor can be IVERY costly. Not to mention, depending on how old your vehicle is or how durable the plastic is, it's really easy to break the plastic pieces that hold the door together. If that happens, your door may never look right ever again Unless you're lucky enough to find some at the junkyard, but they probably would charge you for the whole door. You could even bend the track. My point is that you should leave your doors and windows to the professionals to avoid unnecessary costs and possibly ruining your door. The plastic pieces that hold your door panel on are very expensive if you can even find them. Replacing the window motor is also going to cost a pretty penny. Just dont do it.

Yeah I was looking for something like this. I heard this trick at work the other day and all I could think is sure your door is unlocked now, but you’ve possibly just made things worse than just calling a locksmith.

In my case the duct tapes always tore or came off. Finally broke the glass which was cheapest option. There is another method of putting an air bag in door gap and inflating it as wedge. Later bent thin rod can be used to pull the keys or unlock the door. This method is more practical.

Oak, most of these tips are..... comedy. However now I want to hear the proof that someone has EVER gathered enough static electricity to start a fire at a gas pump. Show the evidence otherwise this is a myth. Next you will tell people they can ignite a gasoline trail with a lit cigarette.... Just so you know, you can't. Only in the movies.

If you have a car with a key fob (keyless entry and push to start) also called SmartKey, the computer won't let you leave your keys in the car and lock it

Many cars with keys won't lock if the key is still in the ignition too. BrightSide also often gives bad advice. Professionals advise that people do NOT do the second thing they show in this video.

I miss my smart key and push start. My new Nissan came with a key but I guess I have built in chickens bc it beeps if I’m coming upon someone too close and it also beeps if I’m trying to back out and there is a car coming. I guess I have smart chickens 😂🤣

Consider this: all of your car door handles broke off so the presence of a key is irrelevant

It didn't work. I pried my door open, wedged it with a thin cutting board, formed a loop in a wire coat hanger and hooked it around my door handle to open.

This doesn't work if it's raining it's best to have roadside assentance and be covered by your insurance for situations like being locked out of your car

The static charge at the gas station thing is BS.

I tried the duck tape method today and it didn't work, me and a friend both had parts to pull on and the windows would not go down had to break the smallest window to unlock the door unfortunately

Now car thief can use that trick

Imagine if those duck tapes is inside your car...
