Whenever you jack a car up, you NEVER stick your head in a wheel arch. ALWAYS use the tyre that U have taken off and slide under the car for safety. Saves loosing your head if Jack moves.

Good idea on cleaning the drains, compressed air or heavy weed cutting line works as well. I would recommend using car/truck safety stands after jacking any vehicle up and working under or nearby. If no stands available lay the wheel under the vehicle.

Instead of plastic wire try long steel wire/cable of correct diameter and always tape the end of it to make a nice point that won't catch on sides of tubes. insert gently, and slowly. In USA the steel wire is at hardware stores in the chain department. Keep the wire in your trunk and Clear it out every 6 months. This frequency will not allow buildup that happens over time. A friend of mine sprays WD-40 down his tubes, rinses with hot water to spread it and to maintain the slick inside.

Great idea about the spring cord. I'll have to try and find that. Seems like it would work better than string trimmer line. I do know that on front drains on some Toyotas that the tube can be clean but water still backs up because the water empties into a chamber that fills with dirt, sand and muck and its very difficult to clean out. Folks have used sections of hose to bypass that blockage, or drilled holes from below in to the chamber.

ok.. bought the curtain wire and it is the best thing to use. My drivers side front drain pipe was blocked but I don't have a outlet rubber pipe on my car that I can get to. The hole was so blocked that the curtain wire could not unblock it, so I put boiling, soapy water down the pipe and let it soak in. After doing that the wire was able to push through.

When doing this, you want to be careful not to knock the rubber hose off the plastic connector inside the roof liner otherwise your in for a bad time. I had to check for blockages in my E36 coupe and I was able to pull the head liner off from the back just enough to be able to actually disconnect the rubber hose and chuck a wire down it and blow some compressed air down the tube to be 100% sure there was nothing in the tube. I've been chasing a leak from somewhere that's filling up my rear passenger side foot well. Not a fun job at all.

Solid video. Thank you. I'm gonna toss a message in a bottle here: Any chance anyone knows how to find the exits for the rear drains of a 2016 Ford Expedition? As far as I can tell, the front drains end up somewhere in the rocker panel (not a smart place, Ford. Just asking for rust). I don't want to pour water in the sunroof tray to see if water comes out the back, because I already know one or both are clogged because the last rain soaked the headliner. Anyway, this video is the only helpful one I can find so far ... but my question now is very car specific. I'd love to not need to pull out all the interior trim and headliner just to push out a little clog. Such a simple and expensive oversight by the car designers. These tubes should be easily accessed. (update) just found a thread that gets really close to addressing my question: www.f150forum.com/f118/10-minute-sunroof-leak-fix-409873/index3/
