Some "electrician" did this in my kitchen before we moved in. The resistance of the splice increased over time until 5 years later the outlet and insulation started smoking. I had to replace the outlet and wiring. DON'T DO WHAT THIS GUY SHOWS. Use a code approved connector or terminal. If you don't understand what I said, get an electrician.

@@whymeme5841 Most of these twisting methods are overkill and will not result in an increase in resistance since they're being twisted so tight together. The bigger issue with them is that they're a waste of time and wire and a waygo or wire nut on pretwisted wire will accomplish the same exact thing much more quickly and cheaply. For the stranded wire twists it's recommended to solder them after though.

While you're right, I doubt very much this method was meant for high voltages and/or loads.

Small and/or low current wires: solder. Big and/or high current wires: terminal strip. NO TWISTING.

What would be the disadvantages of using terminal strip and the twisting? I see a lot of people not recommending terminal strip due to possibility of loosening the screw over time or leaving too loose or over tightening it and break the wire. Some recommend using wago to overcome the last two issues, but still you cannot go above 6 sq.mm.The only disadvantage I see of using twisting is that you need to use self-vulcanizing tape and some vinyl tape to vapor and water proof the connection.

@@JulianBG Twisting wires together adds important wire surface to surface contact. you do it nice and tight (follow standard splicing procedure) and tape it, it is way better than using wago as to current carrying ability. The wago would be heating up while the spliced wire would still be cold.

i learned about the first splice in my grade 9 electronics class. it's called a western-union splice and the next few splices are just variations thereof. also, i'd never simply shrink wrap those splices, especially not the braided wires. solder them--always.

Ага, на паре кусочков, сидя за столом, имея неограниченное количество кабеля для зачистки, равно как и количество попыток - это да, выглядит красиво. Но когда у тебя из коробки под потолком торчат огрызки кабеля, или на морозе быстро надо поремонтировать кабель, перееханный металлическим колесом и т.д. все жти премудрости остаются актуальными только при просмотре на унитазе, а на практике до одного места. Удлинитель разве что по-быстрому ремонтировать, вот и всё

помимо ремонта и обслуживания, еще как бы существует монтаж. И чем лучше монтаж, тем реже в коробки лазит обслуга. Но как обычно бывает, монтажники делают не для себя и им плевать, что там будет после них и в коробках они оставляют как раз такие варианты, которые забраковал автор.

@@user-jn1pd5pf9b видел, конечно, но при сегодняшнем обилии всевозможных способов надёжного соединения, доступности элементов монтажа в любом строительном магазине пользоваться скрутками, особенно на этапе первоначального монтажа проводки - это просто смешно. В остальных случаях, когда невозможно или сложно использовать клеммники и т.д. способы, представленные на видео, тоже не особо помогут

2 и 3 варианты скруток самые ходовые - быстрые и надежные. Проверено годами работы в экстремальных условиях.

This may be a good way to start out, but it should be followed with solder. The joint will be more secure and a better electrical connection.

Well if you want to be picky make sure you use a silver instead of a lead based solder lol. Very few people solder anymore it'll too time consuming for the amount of quality you get.

Agree, but the best way to solder is to start with a good solid mechanical connection (if possible). This video is really good for that.

Soldering isnt the best choice here, instead of doing weird twist and turns you should use a mechanical connection like Wago or Molex, (crimping) This is better since they last longer and the joints arent as brittle because of the heat induced softening of the copper So if you can, use a mechanical connection or crimp the wires, I cannot recommend screwterminals however

Im impressed you managed to come up with a dozen or so variations of like the twist-knot and not a single Underwriter's Knot!

I like the idea for splicing two wires together for the purpose of shrink tubing and/or soldering them as a final act. I used those combination shrink tube/solder in the middle tubes to set up a train room and they worked fine. The problem was the delicate acts of trying not to pull the wires apart until I could light up the solder. The connecting methods he shows us would have been nice to know 4 years ago. I just saw this two nights ago. By the way. Wages are nice but not for running wire next to track.

I use too… try placing the heatshrink/solder device on one of the two wires and shrink up the end to hold it on the wire without melting the solder…. Then insert the other wire. Then melt the other end without melting solder… now the wires can’t move and u can melt solder…

@@Biz_Buz 1:38 площадь контакта лишь в месте узла. А по бокам он каждый конец накручивает на свой же провод. На разрыв держит хорошо, но со временем сгорит синим пламенем, спалив чью-то хату

@@user-ys8go1ov7p работаю электриком 12 лет. Специально сейчас встал и проверил некоторые соединения. Площадь контакта отличная. Прочность соединения тоже. Разумеется, при соединении проводов я никогда такого не делал, а просто припаиваю или скручиваю сильнее. Но это не значит что эти методы плохие. Их просто дольше делать

Слава богу русские коментарии по большей части адекватные:) Товарищь - прежде, чем прикоснуться к поводу прочитай 1 главу из учебника по электромантажу о способах соединения проводов. Это не сложно :)

Здесь идет суть, когда начинаешь работать в нормальных условиях и только, когда начал, что то грамотно соединять. А для тех случаев, когда уже довели проводку до состояния дерьма в виде огрызков или потому что идиот в самом начале делал не так как надо, то для этого придумали металлические зажимы, переходники, связки.

OK the hacks are interesting, but dependet of what is intended. If one wants to produce an arts project, this may be a good idea. But for electrical wires this is not recommended at all. Just have a look on WAGO clamps, which do the work quite well and savely.

Just use the plastic covered screw terminals. That way it would be to proper electrical standards.

Looks like a major flipping improvement on the wirenuts I was trained to use. I mean, solder would be great, but marrettes are universal on the job sites I worked on.

У каждого работника есть один наиважнейший фактор, который нужно учитывать при проведении работ, это скорость! Провода можно скрутить очень красиво и даже надёжно, но если тебе нужно скрутить очень много проводов, или некогда возится, или место труднодоступное - вторая рука не помещается, то эти красивые узлы и скрутки идут в жопу, главное, чтобы контактная площадь была достаточная, и провод сам не расползся - всё! А если соединения пропаиваются, то можно в крайнем случае обойтись вообще без скручивания, а просто ровно приложить оголённые части провалов друг к другу и пропаять - держаться будут крепко. Поэтому гайд считаю хоть и желательным, но не обязательным, особенно при учёте того, что не всегда под рукой есть плоскогубцы.

@@user-ox6qm6mf8m ну так не только квалифицированный специалист с инструментом занимается скручиванием проводов, это может быть и автолюбитель, у которого в дороге авто сломалось, и дальнобойщик, и работник за станком на заводе, у которого станок сломался, а сроки поджимают, и ждать электрика некогда, и просто обычный житель дома/квартиры, который остался без света/электроприбора, и знает причину неисправности, и не хочет ждать пару дней электрика, именно такие люди интересуются как скручивать провода, и именно они могут не иметь на руках плоскогубцев.

@@crosshunter3316 лезть что-то ремонтировать, не озаботившись даже наличием элементарного инструмента - все равно что аппендицит себе оперировать, "чтобы скорую не ждать" )) скорее, видео будут смотреть те, у кого и плоскогубцы есть, и возможность (и желание) прикупить необходимые расходники, и, возможно, какие то базовые навыки, но элементарно нет опыта работы и знания стандартных приемов

As an electrician I really hope no one is actually using those shown examples. Style is not/greater than function!! We use solder for a very good reason: electric connectivity, stability and antioxydation( connectivity). Those shown examples will just lead to your house getting rekt

Dependiendo del sentido de circulación de la corriente, algunos empalmes estarían bien de no ser porque no conviene tocar los cables con los dedos desnudos (por la humedad y grasitud de la piel) y tampoco enroscarlos sobre sí mismos. Todos los demás empalmes son de alta resistividad cuando el consumo es grande: pueden calentar y provocar un incendio. La electricidad no obedece las leyes de la estética. Es peligroso e irresponsable enseñar así a gente que no sabe.

When we were small, we used to collect the multi coloured wires left from local council working on light poles, twist then into rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and coasters, my uncle Lloyd used to build 'Sound Systems', he had tons of copper wires we used to play with, great memories from my little Island! 😊💜💥

Оборачивать один провод вокруг другого это сильно)) я то дурак всю жизнь делал равномерное переплетение провода о провод)) но гильза ясен пень самое надёжное соединение.

Twist Electric Wire 3. TimeCode 1:38. Пятно контакта- только на узле, а не на всей скрутке. Обвив провода даёт только механическую прочность, но не улучшает котакт, т.к. это обвив самого себя, а не встречного проводника.

Третий вариант - не правильно: каждый из проводов наматывается сам на себя, соприкасаются петлями в одной точке, там он и отгорит. Третий для бельевой верёвки.

Вася,не совсем согласен. Я видел как сращивают провода воздушных линий настоящие монтажники! Семижильные провода пассатижами по одной проволочке на четверть оборота,и через 5 минут...красотища! Пытался повторить...куда там!

@@user-br9ul8ed1y это воздушные линии, в случае обрыва, приедет другая бригада и снова скрутит... Пожара от этого не случится... Да и ГОСТы по воздушным линиям наверное не такие как для бытовых..

This is unsafe, and illegal. You need a wire nut to make a secure connection. Twisting it like this, and just using shrink wrap, is illegal.

As a temporary method to get a radio working or something out in the field, maybe. But anything even semi permanent with any sort of current/load running through it, extremely dangerous

Seeing this for the first time. Should be required video for anyone who works with wire for money or fun.

Не буду спорить на счёт правильно не правильно ибо со всем этим ручным трудом не знаком, но увидев ролик из любопытства посмотрел и увидев комментарий хочу задать вопрос. Образование СССР это к чему было сказано?) надеюсь это же не наивная попытка убедить себя и прочих читающих в том что это гарант качества? В СССР было мнимое такое да ощущение у всех работяг что они "спецы" с бАльшой буквы, и якобы то что сделано в СССР прям качественное и бла бла. Только почему-то все эти люди забывают самый важный факт, тот что количество сырья было ну так в ахуилон раз больше чем сейчас. Имею ввиду не ресурсы само собой, а технологию кпд, условно раньше ебашили 5 мм стали для "чего то там", сейчас же 1 мм. И опять таки не "из за" чего-то, а просто закрытая страна могла хуярить все тоннами тупо не думая о том что ждёт в будущем. Но.. Такие реликты как ты радуют своими в "СССР" образован или там сделано :) ей богу попытки ненужных и брошенных элементов создать себе иллюзию уважения.

@@Azazot на самом деле не важно, откуда образование, важна суть сказанного. У меня нет образования СССР, но с автором комментария согласен на всё 100. Такие намотки скорее опасны, чем полезны. Перегрев в месте таких хитрожопых узлов практически гарантирован.

How about solder for better electrical connection so your house won't burn down wenn the current gets high?

Here where I am, in Argentina, the electricity companies connect the input cables to the house using the double Y splice shown here, without soldering, with plenty of electrical tape. I can only think that if they always do it like this it can't be that bad. There should be problems and I have never heard of, nor have I had any.

Never had a problem with wire nuts!

Good video. You have techniques for binding different types of wire, and multiple wires that I've never seen before. I LOVED the copper bonzai the stapler as cable-strripper, and the needle-threader at the end! It's sometimes really hard to get needlle-threaders when you need them, and I wish I'd seen this earlier! People should remember that BOTH wires may be connected to something, so remember to put the heath shrink on BEFORE joining them in such cases or the air may turn blue :-)

I'll never get those 8+ minutes back.

Hey hey heY hEY HEY. While twisting conductors together works, over time the resistance can increase as thermal expansion and contraction decrease the mechanical tension. Oxidation can also further increase the resistance. It's best to either solder or use constant tension via wire-nuts or crimped sleeves, etc. Most likely you won't have any problems with twisting conductors, but soldering/crimping is better.

what if you want oxidation causing resistance to see if you can melt iron with tons of scrap copper and lots of power.

So, because you have a different way to do this, the normal way is wrong? You need a wire nut to complete the connection. Electrical tape only, or shrink wrap aren't code. That would be illegal.
