How To Turn Up or Adjust Temperature On An Electric Water Heater

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How to adjust water heater temperature on an Electric Water Heater will help you not to run out of hot water as quickly. Your water heater comes preset at 120 degrees most people simply do not find this hot enough . We suggest only going up to 130 degrees as it will take 30 seconds to be scalded, at 140 degrees it takes less than 5 seconds. This is very dangerous if you have small children or elderly people in your home, so please pay attention to where you are setting the temperature on your thermostats. Be sure to check out our other video if you have no hot water!

    ⚔️The critical issue here is that, when U said that, If the temperature isn’t set exactly the same on top & bottom controls,then the water heater won’t function properly. But the 1 controlling set screw, doesn’t give a 130 degree marker, to do that’ ! Now what must be done to have both set correctly ?🛡

    I have a 75 Gallon Marathon (Rheem) water heater and I set the top thermostat at MED and Med is 125 degrees and the bottom is set at low or 120 degrees. I believe this is what the factory setting were (120 degrees). I assume that the temperatures is what you want to be the same. The 2 thermostats are not the same on this unit. The bottom has a medium setting temperature of 150 degrees and the top medium equals 125 degrees .. high setting for the top is 155 degrees and bottom is 180 degrees. Low setting temperature top 95 degrees bottom 120 degrees. This water heater is considered commercial although it is installed in a single family home. The plumber said the top and the bottom should be set the same (Medium) but that caused the water to register at 150 degrees. I really don't know what the factory setting on the thermostats were? I called Rheem and waited hours on hold but no one could tell me how they were originally set. I want the temp to be 120 degrees and I would like to have this water heater work as efficiently as possible. HELP!

  • @BecPlumbe

    @BecPlumbe

    2 жыл бұрын

    It should help, because you won’t need to use as much hot water in the mix when showering. However, you’ll also be paying for more electricity to keep the water hotter. If your electricity prices are high and your budget is tight, keep an eye on those bills. Also, if you have a larger household or use a lot of hot water, you might benefit from a larger tank (if that’s within your power). Or you could consider things like splitting hot water use times - eg could some household members shower in the evening instead of the morning, or could you use a delayed start on things like your laundry so it washes at midday or during the night (or wash on cold).

    Hi Tammy! We teach all things Plumbing related. I(Renee) would like to say that I teach others to enjoy their life...LOL but that is a discussion for another day on a different platform:) I do however like to tell everyone that "smiles are free" and our friend includes "contagious", so there is a great place to start:) Hope your day is great and we appreciate you reaching out!! Happy Plumbing!!

    Hello, Why does it take so long for water to get hot inside?

    Electric Water Heaters just take longer and it is a large amount of water.

    Why didn't you turn off the power? The heater even said to. Is it really necessary to turn the power off?

    You absolutely can turn the power off first. If you have no leaks or water on hands I typically do not, however please flip the water heater breaker off if you feel uncomfortable. Safety First!!

    Power does not need to be shut off. No electrical is being worked on. Just a setting adjustment. Like changing the temp on a stove
