QUOTES:
“I think about all the times I really became a better person or a smarter person it's because of something that was very hurtful, or painful, or an unpleasant experience.” [5:10]
“I think you shouldn't just not try because you have to pay your dues.” [8:25]
“I think a big part of finding what's right for you is stop confining yourself to a path that you've been convinced is the path.” [9:30]
“The universe may like the law of attraction, but it likes a good hustle even more.” [21:44]
“There's no tips and tricks. There's just a lot of work. It's a lot of work. It's a lot of focused work. And that's the biggest message I can drive home is that of course there's practices and things you can do, but you need to stop making excuses. You need to put your head down. And you need to make a plan. And then you need to execute the plan.” [25:38]
“If you're not truly in tune with your biggest teammate, which is yourself, there's no way you can succeed. You need to know yourself really well.” [31:38]
“Impact is not just affecting millions. It's affecting the one or two people that get impacted with creative solutions.” [45:17]
“If you mix creativity with hustling hard, any job position, anything you want to become is possible. Show people what your value is. And then they'll pay you for your value.” [47:23]

It's so funny how once this "motivational" stuff gets in your head, it actually becomes useful in everyday life. This quote Slim used was in my head from an Evan Carmichael meme I saw once before. I was at work and found my neck getting tight, blood pressure rising & just not feeling good for some reason I couldn't figure out. Out of the blue, this same quote entered my head. I looked around at my surroundings, took deep breaths, thought about how far I came in a short period of time... and I reverted back to my "normal state" (at peace). Haha... this self-improvement stuff is great!

*"The universe may like the law of attraction, but it likes a good hustle EVEN more"* 💃 Awesome interview Tom. Here's what I took from it: * See your sucky moments as stepping stones. * Not all your friends need to be able to give you good advice, some just need to be able to be there for you. * You have to prove your dreams can be real. Set a timeline for what you can do. * Pay your dues early on, high energy & enthusiasm is a cue for being on the right path. * People who are great are obsessed, and yes, that can be unhealthy at times, but you gotta keep that in check. * Be scientific & mechanical, process your emotions when you need to. * Sleep is a small cost to pay for big results - sometimes you might not get enough. * Stop making excuses, get your head down & WORK. Thanks!!

And it’s definitely an Asian thing. My parents still influence my life and I’m 44. I think the main thing is to fight for your identity when you are young. Get out and do things your parents think would not be good for you. For example, my parents still believe in the same path Lilly went through. Go to school, get a degree or two, work at a stable 9 or 8 to 5 corporate job, have a family. Despite some of my family (cousins) having successful businesses, the traditional path is still seen as the best chance to be successful.

It's uniquely terrifying when ur indian to go against ur parents. And it's not cuz indians are bad parents; it's India's history of soooooooo many invasions and colonizing causing us to be in a perpetual state of fear and lack of stability. Or at least our parents are like that but many of us children are not like that and are branching out to become successful in other areas of life. And Indian children want to make our parents happy very badly whereas in some other cultures there is the tradition of rebelling against the parents to spite them.

Lilly is the most genuine, humble, honest person I have came across in the public eye! I stumbled upon her while she was doing and interview for Sophia Amoruso's podcast and I have been hooked ever since. Watching her vlogs from day, one she has not changed one bit (except for the better) and she repeatedly preaches and does what she says she believes! Her idle is Dwayne but my idle is LILLY! She will forever be one of the 5 ppl I surround myself with daily. And her vlogs make it even easier for me to do that. I "hustle harder every day to have productivity live where I live" Thanx tom and Lilly. Both of you are great. Thanx for being the gems we need in this world to help spread positivity in so many ways! 💁🙏🙌🎊😍

I've been sitting on pins and needles for this interview to come out and I can honestly say that it was well worth the wait. Lilly Singh's viewers are very familiar with her comedic side, however this side of her, which Tom masterfully teases out, is such a powerful testament to her strength, determination and focus as a business woman in full command of her faculties and her empire. A spell-binding showcase of a multi-talented powerhouse with a story that will inspire anyone with a dream to dig deep and hustle harder. I enjoyed every minute watching this. Bravo.

Hello Tom & stafff, Another FANTASTIC/UPLIFTING episode. This is one of the best interviews I have seen to date. Really resonate with Lilly Singh's response about people who take the time to post hateful/mean comments. I did not however think about what she said that there should be a class on social media in school; that makes a lot of sense. She is brilliant, funny & very engaging. Great reminders when she said: Take ownership. Be proactive (ex., if you know your phone is going to die while you are out, put a charger in the car). There are solutions to most challenges. Really appreciate her 'girl love' campaign. Wow, definitely appreciate the impact she wants to have on the world: To encourage people to believe that whatever they want to be, even if it doesn't exist, it's possible. If you're creative & mix it with hustling, anything is possible. Show people what your value is & then they'll pay you for your value. Thank you for having her on your show Tom.

Everyone has their own lane and lifes purpose is finding that lane, blazing that trail and encouraging others to find their lane. 🙌🙌 Thanks Lillie and Tom!! You both are super inspiring!!

This episode was so empowering! Lilly Singh is so real and vulnerable. I was truly impressed by her transparency and rawness on certain topics and what she struggles with or did struggle with. I also loved her notion of the leaky faucet and putting a bucket under it. So powerful! Makes you realize it’s okay to struggle with certain things. Just be real and open about it and more importantly know that you struggle with it!

I truly think Tom is one of the best interviewers i have ever seen. The fact that he activley goes out of his way to digest as much of his guest's information as possible truly blows nearly every other interviewer Ive seen, placing him and Naurdwar to be my 2 favorites in the industry.

I am a teenager.... And I literally can't put what an impact that interview had in my life, in to words! Like, I literally have NO words to describe, and the only thing that I can really say about that HUGE PoSiTiVe impact is that: "like yesterday, I really was HATING myself to death just because of what people think about me and what they believe about me!!" Now I believe that, THIS IS MY LIFE, and it's NoT your business what I do with it. In conclusion, I really appreciate that woman for helping every single kid to becoming a better being, and changing the world to a better place. :) I love her SO MUCH, haha one more thing is that my mother started to cry while watching this with me and it was the cutest thing EVER! I had to download it!! ❤️👸🤗👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I have to say as a long time fan of Lilly's...I went to her book tour and read her book, I watch her channel...I thought I had heard it all! This interview was AMAZING! Such practical advice for everyone at any age. As a logical thinker myself, the mechanical element she describes to compartmentalising thoughts and feelings is very similar to myself. As always Tom you outdid yourself, great questions!

So inspiring as always! I’d ‘heard of’ Lilly and knew she had achieved a lot but never knew her story or personality. This chat was so uplifting and refreshingly honest when it came to me becoming mental blocks and societal expectations as well as addressing her own flaws - so relatable! Thank you both, I’m off to explore Lilly’s channel / world but I’ll be back tomorrow to watch another insightful interview.

Awesome!!! As a fellow Indian woman I can relate. I wish I followed my passion instead of settling for what my parents wanted. But never too late I guess. But her parents are way more supportive and more relaxed than my parents though. One other silly thing - I don’t know many Indian parents who wanted their daughters to be teachers though (especially in that context of ‘doctors, lawyers etc’. Maybe professors but not teachers.
