Hi Mike, I finally got to watch all four of your chess piece turnings. I always enjoy seeing the process you each use. I have to tell you though that your process fits my style better than the others do. I really appreciate the in-depth historical information as well as the detail techniques you describe. I used to teach and have used the “informative” instructional technique in business. That’s probably why I appreciate yours so much. It could be though that I’m just hard headed and require multiple exposures to the information. Keep up the good work. Don’t telll the guys that you’re my favorite. 😊 Thanks. Tony

Lots of useful stuff for making your first chess set. I really like the way you mount the blanks on the mini screw chuck whilst making space for the weight.

Thanks, Richard. Certainly grabbing with a chuck maybe a bit faster but does not provide for that extra weight. Aand as you have shown in the past, a screw chuck can be a great way for chucking a variety of projects.

Very nice video …. Nice lines on your pieces! I thought your comparison of learning to use a skew chisel to learning to ride a bicycle was the best I’ve ever heard. Tomislov did a great video on the skew chisel that really helped me. The four of you that are involved in the four way projects have helped my turning learning turning curve tremendously. Thank you 🤠🇨🇱

You can't beat a story board ( stick). I use them when making multiples. I think it was you from a few years ago.. I also have a cheap set of spanners ( wrenches), which I use very frequently as my set size callipers. Now on to no#2 of the challenge partners.

Your appearance is frozen; sound is OK but the picture doesn't follow the sound. Gremlins? As the video progressed, sound and visual were much better. That is one big pawn! The project is great. However it is distressing to see you wearing a watch and ring while you are turning. It is a potentially dangerous practice and not responsible to demonstrate.
