How to troubleshoot High RAM and SWAP Memory Utilisation - top, uptime, free, ps, kill, pkill, /proc

This is a practical lab exercise based on a real world scenario. In our day to day activities as Linux System Administrators we get alerts on system resourses being highly utilised. System memory is one such critical system resource. In this exercise, we learn how to troubleshoot system memory and more specifically SWAP memory related problems.
- Show SWAP Column in the top command's output
- Use ps command to look for processes for specific users
- Explore the Pseudo Filesystem /proc
- Identify Processes with High System Resources Utilisation
- List Processes with High SWAP memory utilisation
- Run a script to format the output to show what processes and applications are holding high percentage of SWAP
- Use kill and pkill commands
