That is the location of the starter solenoid on my Craftsman mower, but my John Deere have one in a different location on my zero turn mower (under the driver's seat next to the battery). I purchased a starter to install, but decided to check the solenoid also and found that it worked when I bypassed it. When I did this mower started perfectly so I held off on replacing the starter, and will check the solenoid again before replacing it or the starter. Thanks for sharing this video, and I hope you are having a nice weekend.

Great, I'm glad you made use of the solenoid video. This is an easily overlooked part. Likewise, have a great holiday weekend.

ya know . . . for a moment there , i thought i was watching a directors cut scene from home improvement :-P AND i thought i was watching a video from the 1980's era, until the last part of the vid where the light went to led. >.> should have kept the 1974 incandescent bulbs glowing . lol very through , just like i remembered it back in the day when alot of people cared to show how it was done to make something work. awesome video !!

My control wire doesnt seem to get power, does that mean a safety or ignition switch?

It sure does, or wiring. Time to break out a meter or install a temporary jumper to isolate the problem part.

my toro mower starts, but has weird symptoms...takes up to three seconds for it to crank after turning key...or struggles to turn the starter at all until i turn the key back and forth up to three times before it cranks. the battery is brand new and in perfect charge and load tested. can anyone suggest what i should check or replace? thanks!
