I am honestly mad we cant buy medication we need over the counter without a doctor. I have a reoccuring UTI problem once a year, I do not wish to visit a doctor for a prescription when I know what I need. I am very frustrated I cannot afford health insurance to even see a doctor, troubling times.

I am sorry you are dealing with a reoccurring UTI. I know it must be frustrating to constantly need a prescription to get a medication, but it is important to keep in mind that the human body is dynamic and many factors can change. A doctor would need to reevaluate the situation each time to give the best possible care/treatment. For example, what if constantly taking the same antibiotic over and over for a UTI causes antibiotic resistance? That might create a bigger problem, which is why the barrier to prescription medications are created. Hope that helps and hope you see a doctor to talk about a more long term solution for your UTI. Try subscribing to good rx or just going on their website. Avoid doctor visit and get antibiotics. There are others as well but i used good rx.

I took Teva Lexin 5 years ago and the pain and discomfort stopped before I got out of emergency..this year they gave me the first one you talked about..it didn't work for a week and then still felt like there wasn't something quite right..and when I read about it ,it had all kinds of side effects that could of happened..i was lucky...it just didn't work for me for a week...my doc said she didn't want to give me the same one ,your body gets used to them but it had been 5 years and knowing what I know now ,I should of got down on my knees and begged her to give me Teva Lexin.

Sometimes I have seen doctors prescribe macrodantin/macrobid for prevention of a UTI. With supplements it’s a little bit tricky cause the data isn’t that consistent but people like using cranberry supplements as a form of prevention.

I twice took the second medicine Bactrim and developed severe reaction which the doc did not tell me about..i had severe itching,burning, and bloodshot eyes..please be very careful.

Best medicine suggestions for complicated uti with catheter dwelling patient??

I first discovered I had uti my rectum was hurting and I went to the doctor and they did a cat scan and urine sample and there was blood in my urine the cat scan said there was mild thickening in my bladder. What could cause this? They prescribed me sulfameth/trimethoprim. The pain went away now Im going to see a urologist in a few days

Not sure exactly what the "thickening in the bladder" is caused by, but the "sulfameth/trimethoprim" (Bactrim) is a common antibiotic to treat a UTI.

I love trimethroprim..its actually saved my ass a fair few times with 0 side effect...ive just been given macrobid and tbh im dubious..i had a bad reaction to amoxacilin which has made me feel anxious about brands and different versions i dont know..im actually so anxious right now as i have read some bad stuff i feel perhaps id be less ill with my infection 😅 (jkin ofcourse as i know infection can be dangerous)

Antibiotics can have side effects (just like every medication) but you have to weigh the pros and cons of the situation and usually taking a course of antibiotics to treat an infection is beneficial.

You might have a UTI. You would need antibiotics prescribed by a doctor.

Hello doc I just wanna ask am a 25 year old male with uti I woke up to a slight discharge when I want to pee it would slightly burn some pain was felt I went to a pharmacy explained exactly what's happening I was recommended by a pharmacist to take (dazel kit ) which contains fluconazole 150 mg,Azithromycin 1g & secinidazole 1g My question is can it heal me as a male person cause I read the instructions it talks about vaginal discharge curing

Typically it depends on the strain for the infection. Besides other conditions can cause those symptoms. Did you end up seeing a provider m?

Sulfamthe-trimeth 200/40 first dose woke up middle of the night with a headache (twice daily 20 ML) - I haven’t taken my next dose papers say possible side effects to call doc - headache? Ugh 😣 so am I having an issue with it? I was thinking maybe I wasn’t hydrated enough (obviously) when they gave this to me?

Hello, you said you’re taking levofloxacin every 5 hours? If so that is a very high frequency. Usually it’s taken once daily. Did your doctor prescribe that?

The doctor gave me sulfathoxazole. He said I probably got the infection while in the hospital. I don't have any uncomfortable or burning when I urinate. Is that a key factor?

Bactrim is a broad use antibiotic. It can be used for other infections in addition to UTI. You can still have a UTI without pain or feeling uncomfortable while urinating.

I have a Cather which is a catch 22 situation for me the patient and headache for. the doctor for searching for the correct antibiotics only allowed three treatment before going hospital.

Have uti for few year..in sonography it shows cystitis...taken much treatment from many doctor ...but after sometime uti come back...this evening visited doctor and he gave fosfomycin +urikind sachet + medicine for pain....but he said take fosfomycin one time only....taking fosfomycin one time can cure cystitis?

What if I take my 2nd Cipro dose 7 hours after my first ? I eat them with meals each… I’m kinda scared cuz of all negative things I’ve heard about cipro 😭💀

It depends on your prescription directions, but Cipro is usually dosed twice daily. So most ideal is every 12 hours. Also it is recommended to have plenty of water with Cipro. What bad things have you heard from Cipro?

You have puss discharge during urination?

Ihave a urostomy. I have had Cephalexin (twice) recently and it appeared to work for a short while the first time but then I became ill again and was given another course but again the effect did not last. I have now been given Ciprofloxacin. Reading the enclosed leaflet about side effects was a bit scary! Incidentally Trimethoprim gives me an itchy rash!

So many threads on Reddit of people who had to stop taking it after a dose or a couple. I’ve been on Cipro for an Ecoli infection for 3 days and I feel a little better but I’m still having where I feel I have to pee on and off. How long does it take to feel better while taking medication? I haven’t taken azo but I’m on a 10 day round of cipro. I got a uti in 2020 I was on 60 days of antibiotics and since then I haven’t been the same utis on and off etc…. Is there any prevention I do everything right 😭😭😭

Best is to be seen by a doctor. UTIs can cause pain while urinating but it the pain can be caused by something else so that it why it is best to be seen to confirm a diagnosis

Nitrofurantoin didn't help me at all...I drank it 2 months, first month for 3 days and then symptoms came back and second month for 7 days and symptoms came back again... So, now I'm on Trimethoprim for 7 days 😑 I don't know really what is going on. Doctor said that it is an E.Coli bacteria in urine.

The E.coli is the bacteria causing the infection. Maybe it is resistant to the antibiotics you tried. Did they do a culture report?

@@pharmedgy yes, they did twice, but anytime they told me different results and as they said this bacteria doesn't resistant 🙄 So, they refered me to do ultrasound on Tuesday. I'm a bit scared, but hopefully everything going to be fine.

They can try to run a culture and susceptibility report and see what type of infection it is before giving an antibiotic. It regards to surgery, I am not a surgeon so I would not know specifically.

I have to say,that new antibiotics not effective like previous generations had a treatments more effective with a simple Levomicetyn,Streptocyde,Biseptol,..etc , you can't find it in a Chemists anymore, it was really good,quick with a 100% effect

Depends on which antibiotic, but usually in a few days you feel some relief. If you are currently taking an antibiotic for UTI, you can also take AZO to manage the pain while urinating.

I have epididymitis, they think its due to a UTI no final reason though. They gave me ciprofloxacin 500mg but i wanted it changed doxycycline because of serious abdominal pain. I am not sexually active, do you have any advice?

@@sergioquintero4646 I’ve gone to see almost 24 specialists here in Chicago and none of them don’t know or understand what is causing or what caused this UTI I’ve gone to Indianapolis, Aurora, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, desplaines , Ohio , Cincinnati, Detroit , almost around Chicago and got checked and I have no more money left because I’ve wasted my money on doctors and specialists visits and nobody helps me or knows the solution I’m tired of going to doctors and specialists and no one seems to know anything

Hello Sir, I have UTI for a long time. I have cultured my urine and treated accordingly but it's not going permanently. After every antibiotic course it's happening again again. What should i do ?

Look into boric acid suppositories. They are inserted into the vagina to get rid of bacteria and yeast. Read info on it before using

Dmanose would help alot along with antibiotic.

hi Doc. Can I ask a question about my uti.The doctor consulted me and they said i have uti then i take ciprofloxacin 2 times a day then their are a huge side effecf in body its painful in my back and their is something in my body inflammating then after 5 days i was not able to complete the course because i going to consult again in my doctor what happen so they ultra sound me then urine test again and thier is no problem in urine test and ultra sound but after one day my pee feels like burning again what will i do.

Did they check your kidneys? Usually the antibiotics treat the UTI unless the bacteria is resistant to the antibiotics.

Hey doc, mine is a question, can I use nitrofurantoin plus trimethropim combination? Or

Usually you do not combine those. It's one or another.

@@wanjirumiringu ~ Well this could happen. When I used the one antibiotic with a brand name of Macrobid I always had a 104° fever. When I stopped it , fever gone. Start again 104° fever back again, stop again fever goes away. It was a side effect on the printout included with the medication. I certainly would not mix meds.

Should I worry about lung issues on 7 day course of macrobid? I have heard this can happen. Could you provide more information.

Are you referring to pulmonary disease caused by nitrofurantoin? If so it is extremely rare, but yes it can happen. Do you have preexisting lung conditions?

I am not sure on a "gel-like substance" in the urine. I would suggest seeing a doctor so they can properly diagnose it.

@@pharmedgy he peed in a transparent container an found white particles floating in his urine. He noticed it and it's been like that for weeks.

The best way to tell is with a culture and susceptibility report, but it is typically thought that Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim) has coverage for MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). Let me know if you have any questions and hope you subscribe to the channel!

The first line go to medication for a UTI is MacroBid (nitrofurantoin) but it all depends on the bacterial urine culture results! Hope you subscribe to the channel!

Hi doc, I already went to my doctor and he told me I have UTI and he prescribed antibiotics for 10 days it's already my 5th day taking antibiotics but my flank and back still hurts. Any suggestions?

I would say finish the course of antibiotics and see if there are any improvements. If not, then maybe there is another condition that is not diagnosed.

@@pharmedgy Missing the fiagnosis. That is always a fear of mine. Because I went to an eye doctor last week and said my eyeball was painful in the middle of the eyeball. He did all the usual eye exams and reading charts for eyeglasses. He found nothing. Said I could use dry eye drops. (They only burned. ) He said I could have steroid something. But I said no. He never diagnosed a problem.. so why steroids?? He said you are fine. Why then does my eyeball still hurt? Shouldn't he have either found why it hurts or sent me to someone who could help me. As another problem I have a bladder infection. I don't need eye pain too. And, I am getting Electron Beam radiation on my leg too. When it rains, it pours. 🥴

@@pharmedgy No , the eye doctor found nothing. The pain subsided. Now yesterday it hurts on the far right side and today the eyeball is all dark red. Could all this be from the lead eye protection they put on my eyes during Electron Beam radiation OR couldn't be something as simple as a burst eye vessel from straining from constipation.

Does macrobid always change urine color? I’m on day 2 now for a uti and haven’t had that issue but the pain is still here

It does not always cause urine change, but it is something we always mention to patients in case it does.

It could be that nerves have an issue as well. My doc gave me 'Nuroforte' Times I got tested and nothing was evident for a uti.

It can possibly if the infection gets sever enough. If for example the urethra swells it might cause urinary retention. Not very common but still possible. Hope you subscribe to the channel! :)

Then two days later fever chills, severe pain, no appetite then at 5:30 am I passed a kidney stone. Now 8 days later I still feel like a bladder infection, bloated bladder, still some burning during peeing, mild back pain...What can I use?

Those symptoms seem like pyelonephritis (kidney infection). Have you been diagnosed by a doctor yet?

@@pharmedgy Most doctors said I had not been seen in so long that I was now considered a new patient and come back in January and even February... With an infection!!! Seriously? I take good care of myself. So I do not need a doctor. I called my old urologist and they eventually made an exception. But still need all my info because it was purged from the system because my last UTI visit was 2012. I am going Thursday, Nov 11, 2021. Not sure what to expect with this same urologist again. Hope they are effective in finding the problem and I can get over it soon. It has been 2 weeks trying to get an appointment.
